Old guys with 12As club meeting

Bingo. That is the idea. Since I think most of the folks are on the 985 side of Lake Lanier starting in Helen makes sense (to me anyway). The only question is at what point do the guys going down 985 start heading back toward Cleveland. It looks like after going through Suches and heading down 60 to Porter Springs that might be the place for the folks on the 985 side of the lake to start heading home.
You guys that have been on the run before, what do you think?
We still need to work out a place to meet up with everyone that is fair to the guys from the 400 side of the lake.

-Have small caravans driving to Dahlonega, and we could all meet somewhere up there.
-Take the run the way that Chris, Alan, and I had previously ran to avoid missing turns or getting lost. And I sort of remember some stopping places.
-End together and then split up the way we came to go home...
And then if we really wanted to go to Helen it's about an hours trip from the end of 400.
Or you know what- we could run the 'loop' part of the smaller route twice...? I just thought of that and edited it back in
Here's a map... I tried putting where everyone would be coming from so I could see a general meeting point. But I'm not the planner Whatever Mike thinks would be best is my vote.

OK, I have a solution to the financial crisis.
Put everybody (and their near relatives) who earned more than $1,000,000 in the stock market over the last 5 years in jail for the next 5 years.
That's the global solution. The personal solution is drive a 1985 RX-7 for the next 5 years.
And for you young families:

That's right, ray. Make a villian of anyone who's successful so they can subsidise ocotmoms and keep government cheese and food stamps coming. How 'bout some financial aid and healthcare to people who have no intent of ever paying taxes.
At least we can always agree that keeping 7s out of the landfill is the right thing to do, no matter how you look at it.

OK, let's not put them in jail, let's just seize their assets and use them to fund a new stimulus plan, part of which will be the National Rotary Museum that's planned for Jefferson, Georgia.
That way I can merchandize my parts shed and recover my lost retirement funds! The White One will have a dedicated room, of course. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Ray, hold on to that shed. There's probably more there than in a 401k, especially with cheap, simple cars increasing in value. Tax-free, baby!
Kevin, if you're wondering about the fins that were on the 85 driveshaft yoke that you lost with the swap to the 83, it wouldn't impact what you're seeing. I wonder if there's a driveshaft counterweight that's now rubbing on your heatshields. Maybe the 85 shaft was closer to balanced, and didn't have a big weight on it. If you put jackstands under the rear axle, so the suspension's still loaded, you can put the car in neutral and turn the driveshaft under the car, looking for the bind.

You know Crit, you are right about that shed. Most people are driving cars around that are worth more than my retirement fund.
No more stocks for me, I'm investing in 7's from here on out.
Kev, I got a 84/85 driveshaft I'll probly never use, if that fixes your problems.

Ray, Kevin actually has the rare unicorn of 83s. People tell me all the time that 83s had large bearings and beehives, but I've seen early cars that didn't. Kevin's 83 was a small-bearing car with threaded pinion flange, which isn't the same pattern as your S3 driveshaft, so you can't bail him out.

Kevin, you don't have a beehive? I can't remember. Maybe your car is a rare and valuable unicorn?
I've been doing some google searches on that octamom problem Crit mentioned earlier and I discovered that China has a clever solution. Over there if you have more than one kid, they put you in jail.
Maybe there's something to this socialism stuff after all. Maybe we can get rid of the parasitic moms and capitalists with simple legislation?
I wonder what the socialists think about rotaries? I don't see how they could have a problem with something that's revolutionary.
Anyway, back to work tomorrow morning. See you guys out on 85.
bon voyage Crit!

Hey, if anyone has a cordless sawsall, can y'all shoot me a PM or call early? I'm headed to pullapart for an emergency run, and would like to get a cat converter for the wife while I'm at it.

As for the FMOC I would say it was added as I have upgraded a few myself before I sold the FB's but to be sure look at the coolant metal line on the driver side of the motor if it is the original motor.
Again check you tranny mount. I am willing to bet if the noise is near the tail shaft of the tranny it is the mount that needs replacing. Drop you mount and inspect it since it is so easy to do.
