Old guys with 12As club meeting

a slight variation on option A. each new generation adds the number of generational steps from FB/SA to the denominator.
FB's (including SE's) = 1 12A
SA's = 1.5 12A's
Certified old school rotaries = 2.0 12A's
FC's = 1/2 12A's
FD's = 1/3 12A's
04-08 RX-8's = 1/4 12A
09+ RX-8's = 1/5 12A
boinger's are tolerated but don't count; all rotarheads get honorable mention even if temporarily stuck with a boinger

I must have blocked that pig sqealing part from memory Mike, but I do recall that movie had some nice banjo picking. I'm with you, I like the old 12 system too, but with all the new folks it's a good chance to air out the subject and see if there are any differences of opinion.
So for now it seems like here's the voting (correct me guys if I'm wrong):
Option A: Mike, Ray, Holly, .....
Option B: .....
Radicals with different ideas: Stu, Glyphon, ....
Glyphon, I'm guessing you used to own an RX-8 from the way you're favoring those family car hybrids. Shame Mazda can't get their own history right, no wonder they can't figure out the best thing they could ever do is put the 1st gen back in production.
Stu, you can start off our pages any day. But it doesn't look like boingers, Mazda or otherwise, are going to get any sympathy on this thread.

and yup. used to own a 2004 RX-8, it was my first rotary, the best car i've ever owned, and one of the best cars i've ever driven and would love to have another one someday.

I picked up some seats for my car last night. They're the gray checker pattern, like have now minus the stains and rips. They are dirtier than I had hoped, but it looks like they are dirty from sitting in a garage. I am going to vacuum them really well first, but I think maybe some upholstery cleaner will be needed. Anyone have recomendations for cleaning seats?

Got you covered Chris, I think I have an extra one or two of those peddle covers.
Brett, where's the after? Don't you think it's about time you took some Lexol to those leather seats? On first gens you can swap the floor mats to even out the wear, it's like getting a whole new driver's side one, which is the one that wears out.
What's with the Japanese theme Kerebus? Than's an awfully red car you got.
Current vote on the 12A equivalents issue:
Option A: Mike, Ray, Holly, .....
Option B: Colin, .....
Radicals with different ideas: Stu, Glyphon, ....
Can't think of any necromania or menstruation jokes right now.

well, the WAF just dropped way down on my recent purchase.
took the 7 out tonight and filled the tank...only took 5 gal, even though the guage was showing below 1/2...i think the guage might be off. but i digress.
the next stop was the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for dinner tonight. come out and car won't start. pop the hood, pull the injector fuses, crank, replace fuses and start her up. put the car in reverse and as i'm backing out the car dies. (didn't stall it, clutch wasn't that far out).
try and crank it, and nothing. not even the lights on the dash. no problem. crit advised me as to what to do...jiggle the battery cables. do that, get to crank it, and i've got dash lights, but its not turning over. its not even trying to.
so i double check the battery cables and try again. no dice. so, i call up crit, and he suggests that the starter needs some good old fashion shade-tree mechanic love (ie, hit it with something hard). problem is, i didn't have anything hard to hit it with. learned my leason. there's a hammer waiting to go in the car in the morning![Smilie](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
so, i call up tim, and he comes out with a mallet and gently massages the starter back to life. now its turning over, but not cranking. try the deflooding trick a few times, and no dice.
so tim guesses there's and issue with the trailing circuit, and thereby not getting any fuel. pulls trailing1 and puts it on one of the bolts on the strut tower. tried cranking, and nothing. he guesses that the ignitor has gone bad, but didn't bring his spare with him, so we hop in his car and run by his house to get the part and some other tools that crit suggested when i called him with a status update.
crit suggested testing all the plugs when we get back, which we did and find that the leading plugs are firing, but neither of the trailing plugs are.
next up is jumping a connector to check the fuel pump, and its working.
so tim sets off removing the ignitor and has one of the little bastard screws out when crit calls back and says he thinks he's figured out the problem. so tim replaces the 1 screw we had gotten out of the ignitor, and goes over to look at the trailing coils, at crit's suggestion.
ends up being extremely simple, and a slight kick to the old ego...when i was fiddling with the battery cables, i knocked the ground off of the trailing coil, or more likely i knocked it loose, and when i was backing out, the vibration/engine movement completed the job.
replaced the ground wire and the car fired right up.
its now 10:30, and i've been gone for over 2.5 hours, and she hasn't eaten dinner yet. the DW doesn't say more than a few words to me for over an hour. so, while she's finishing up getting our daughter to bed and taking a shower, i set about loading the dishwasher, cleaning breast pump parts, setting up the pump for the morning, preparing the bottles for tomorrow, and putting baby food jars away. crisis narrowly averted, and she's now speaking to me again.
so, that was my fun filled evening. and a huge thanks to crit and tim for their assistance tonight.
abbreviations used that not everyone may know:
WAF = wife acceptance factor
DW = dear wife

Woops! Wrong thread, I meant to post that pic somewhere else. But anyways, it's my buddies shop "Japanese Car Care". His shop always had the flag up top but one day we decided to paint the Rising Sun on the wall, took a week but it was a fun project. As for the red, it's "Formula Red" from the 2009 Honda S2000. I like how it came out in person, doesn't look too bright red at all.

Sounds like you and your new ride are getting up close and personal there glyphon.
It's always a challenge to convince the DW how much money you are saving by driving a 1st gen, some women just don't understand. Crit may have some pointers on that too, he's got a pretty good WAF rating.

I'm so tired of being in pain it's not even funny. Thankfully I've got an okay supply of Darvocet and may be getting some more loratab so that I can have a somewhat normal life until we figure out exactly what's wrong.
Yesterday was an amazing day to own a convertible.
Sabine's ice dress is melted.

Collin, lay off the cigarettes, you'll be better in a week.
Mike gave me an idea. Anybody want to have a painting party? I've got a compressor, can rent or borrow a gun.
And yeah Mike's got the best WAF rating in all of Georgia, although this could change if he gets another 7.
