Old guys with 12As club meeting

The resealing the wheels was...a tad bit more work than initially expected. So, I will be reinstalling the tires and all tomorrow. Hopefully they dont leak this time!! Either way, I will be there, but may be in a non rotary AT THE WORST.

So, I went up to Collins today and we played with the car a bit. We replaced the gaskets around the cat-delete pipe and just put that back on since I forgot a part, and I found out that the pipe's a half inch shorter than it should be. So tomorrow before the meet I'm gonna put on the gutted cat and the split-air pipe, and hopefully that will quiet it down a lot. It sounds like a truck...
BUT I totally have to get a new header gasket. I know, I know, I should have before, but I was too excited and thought the old one would work. Anyone have one that will fit an FC and they dont want much for? That'll be all that's holding me back... Someone hook me up
Glad that works- what did you end up using to clamp the ends?

glad it worked out for you man. that tubing is great stuff. there was a thread somewhere on here with a write-up on how to rebuild all the lines and such. there are these clamps that work great with them too. all the stuff came from a hydraulics company somewhere.

I'll be there. I have no idea in what though. Stupid rain.
Ok, question for you guys. Engine is up to temp, and has been for several minutes. Start driving more aggressively, the temperature drops. A lot. Like run it to redline in 1 gear and the coolant temp drops 20-30 degrees.

I was just outside, the rain has stopped, the skies are clearing and the temp is still in the '60s. Looks like the Rotary Gods are smiling on us again.
See you Guys in a few hours, I'm printing out a limited edition of January OG@TA cards.

I was about to suggest maybe it's an electrical thing. My dad's truck has electronic (Instead of mechanical) gauges and when he runs above idle, they either drop or rise any which way they please within a limited amount of movement. It's stupid.

Whoo Hoo, a Third Gen!
Tim I'm going with Collin's idea, it must be electrical, a false reading on the gauge. The car is too new to have any problems with the basic cooling components (water pump, T-stat, temp gauge, belts) so it must be an electrical problem, which of course comes standard with British cars.

Camera battery is charging up, the car is full of gas, and I have the money for the seats. I'm really looking forward to tonight. Thanks guys for all of your generosity. This is the greatest "birthday/you guys are just plain the nicest car guys I've ever hung out with" gift ever.l

Poking around on the Lotus forum, it appears Crit may actually be right. Rumor is a bad batch of thermostats. Supposedly replacing them has fixed it. Not sure. I don't really trust what a lot of those people say . They mean well........
I'll end up letting the dealer figure it out.

January 6, 2009 OGTA get together:
A good turnout for the dead of winter, approximately 9.333333333333333333333 12A equivalents showed up.
Here's the count:
2 SA's = 3 12A's; Andy's plus a new gold one that came with Romulo, from Warner Robbins
4 FB's = 4 12A's; Greg, Chris, Mike and Ray
1 SE = 1 12A; Crit of course
2 FC's = 1 12A; Old reliable Brett and surprise, surprise, Austin and friend in Collins blue FC!
1 very pretty FD = 0.333333333333333333333333 12A's, driven by Jeremy
Plus some very nice people driving boingers:
Holly, in her pretty blue M3
Billy, in a truck
Collin in his new boinger, a kind of cute 1st gen Miata
Kevin in the Fit
George, a new guy in a really, really cool Fiat X19
George's son in another 1st gen Miata, a nice bookend for Collin's new ride
Here are the pics (obviously my nighttime camera work more than sucks so Chris next time take some pics BEFORE you start to tear you car apart):
Chris and Brett at work:
The Miata contingency:
Romulo and his new SA - this one has some real potential!

Fun meet- this one was the first that I've stayed the whole time for. I'm glad I got to know a few of you better... now thing's aren't really awkward
And adding that bolt to the back of the cat really made a difference- Driving home was MUCH quieter. Sometime soon I think I'll just find another replacement cat that's in better shape and throw like 3 gaskets on it We'll see...

I wish I could of gone. But we had a tire mounting competition for work tonight up in Alpharetta. My teammate and I got 3rd place, which is good for $100 each. So, it will have to be next month.
