Merry Christmas all.

I searched eBay, but all they had around that price range looked like it was going to be crap quality parts.... probably stuff I could buy at a hardware store and put together myself. I'm sure you could go higher-priced, but I figured that if I'm going to end up with an electronic boost controller then why waste the money? The only reason I didn't go with the EBC is because I want to be able to install it and go, vs. having to rip out my ECU and get hot with the soldering iron. Not a big deal, but I don't want to do that right yet. I want instant gratification :)

e-store : Circuit Se7eN (powered by cubecart) - Boost Block (Powered by CubeCart)

WHy does the stock ecu need to be touched to install EBC?

He has a Megasqurit. and they have a EBC that can be installed into the ecu they sell.

Yep. I run a Megasquirt ECU, and I built it myself. Full standalone (to include wiring and everything) cost me less than $500. Raksj04 saw the bill  The EBC is essentially a transistor, 2 resistors, and a solenoid. I'd have to crack in to the ECU to solder in those 3 components, then wire the solenoid. Not a big deal at all, but I don't feel like doing that right yet.

I just installed the Circuit Se7en manual boost controller. I'm thoroughly impressed now. With the t04b hybrid and C7 boost controller set at 15 psi, it's all white knuckles and grins for me :) Couple that with the new Tanabe lowering springs, new struts, poly bushings, and pinion snubber, this thing's an absolute BLAST to drive around in now.

I really gotta hand it to Evergreen Turbo. They really know their stuff. A quick phone call resulted in me sending my entire bearing housing and rotating assembly. He scoped it all out and machined the bearing housing and shaft, then gave me some .005/.005 over/under journal bearings to match. Everything came back looking better than ever, and wouldn't you know it, the damn thing stayed together this time!!

Boost controller installed, not mounted yet. I wanted to make sure I have the boost dialed in completely before mounting it. Makes adjustment so much easier. Dirty fender... I know.

Attachment 687377

I also made an adjustable rear camber bar. I measured it before and after. So far I shortened it 20mm. Probably need to shorten it a little more, there's still negative camber there to zero out.

If I hadn't met you, I'd still be putt-putting around with my little Rtek :)

I miss my turbo... wish they'd hurry up!

AGreen 12-26-12 09:49 PM

I'm starting a trend here. Raksj04 is looking in to doing a megasquirt now as well.

Is it true the Rtek fuel map only goes up to 15 psi?

I checked my tables and the top of it is 16psi

AGreen-

ohhh. I should have known. COmpletely forgot you had a megasquirt. Who did the timing/tuning on your ecu or did you tune it yourself?

AGreen 12-27-12 04:14 PM

I did, all by my little lonesome :)

Do you mean the software with the auto tune feature

That's only like 1% of the fun! The real part is the building/wiring/working out any f*ckups you made! Of course, learning from other peoples' mistakes makes it a little easier... but rest assured... at some point you'll screw it up yourself.

AGreen 12-27-12 07:39 PM

I got that only after having it about 95% dialed in. So technically I guess you're right, it wasn't by my little lonesome.

raksj04 12-27-12 09:09 PM

I think my FPR is going

where?

what kind is it? stock? I don't remember if you're using an s5 engine, but I have a spare s5 secondary rail (the FPR is welded or brazed on).

MIDNFauciUSN 12-28-12 05:47 PM

I'll have the turbo back from BNR on Thursday!

AGreen 12-28-12 06:32 PM

If you don't have a boost controller, I really recommend you order one now. Even though you may have gotten the adjustable wastegate, I found that the wastegate creeps open, killing your turbo response. With a boost controller, it won't allow pressure to the wastegate, keeping it tightly shut until the desired boost level.

Don't believe me? If you decide to go to Sonic tomorrow, let me know. I'll take you for a ride

I still have the ball/spring type one... that worked really well. As far as sonic goes... if the temp holds up, I'm in!

I'm interested in this car. Do you think it's a good replacement for my convertible?

Low temps are better for boost

What's wrong with the convertible? Just looking for something new... or just something more comfortable for the winter?

It's a gorgeous car though. I love those wheels :)

Yep. Similar to the one I have. I took mine apart, seems like the ball is a plastic of some sort. It works like a champ though, and seems like it's pretty decent quality. We'll see how the longevity test works out for it.

Just want to give him a taste for how his car will turn out. Convertible w/ T04B hybrid and Megasquirt. I swear he's following me every step of the way. I'm going to have to get that FC2000 body kit now to start copying him

AaronB 12-28-12 10:28 PM

Nothing is wrong with the convertible. I guess I saw this S5 and got a wild hair up my a**. I have decided not to pursue with it. I will have the sentra fixed tomorrow and will be back to enjoying the RX7 instead of using it daily. Though I enjoy using it daily, I'm starting to feel like I am abusing it because there is still work to be done.

raksj04 12-29-12 09:35 PM

Agreen We need to come up with a good sticker solgan like I was talking about at sonic
