I always try to meet up with locals when I'm out for work.

ok guys, I just talked to the people at Veterans Park off of racetrack road, and it is not ideal for us. There are no grills, and on saturday it is full of kids soccer teams, the lady estimated about 1200 kids. We used a park WAAAAY down hecksire dr a few years ago for a honda meet, I am trying to remember what it was called, I will post it here when I remember....

ok, the park we used was Little Talbot Island. They have grills, along with large parking areas next to each of the pavilions. Its $43 to reserve a pavilion, but you dont have to have a reservation to use one. The only downside to this (minus the long drive for some) Is the potential for wind coming off the river, since it will be in the 60's. It is also surrounded by long winding roads, which could provide entertainment, as long as the grannies aren't out driving that day :) . Just one idea, figured I would throw it out there.

Well I think we'll just have to use our old meeting spot off of Girvin Road. That park was always the ideal spot. Never anyone there. It had grilles as well.

Thats the right park, next to the old dump. Jax historically had its meets there.

1pm Girvin Location. If it turns out that they removed the grilles, we can all just pitch in for publix party subs/platters, or BBQ from Bono's. They did have grilles there back in the day...

Or another option. I made a few calls today and I would recommend that we do this at the St. Augustine Lighthouse. There is a park right across from it that has benches and grills and plenty of shade under trees. It's a beautiful spot. Can't reserve tables I don't think but I will call tomorrow to check as the city is closed for the holiday.

We Jax guys could meet up somewhere around Butler and A1A and we could caravan on down A1A. It would be a great trip as I love that stretch of the road. The Gainesville guys could come straight over and then go back from there.

well whatever you guys want.. just take a vote, and make sure people are aware of the new location...

If we want to keep the Girvin Park location, I have a little smoker I can bring to cook up some pulled pork. Others can then bring some buns, plates, chips or other sides. Let me know if you guys want to do this so I can pick up the meat.

I like the St. Augustine idea BUT

vote for Girvin since its been the plan to be in Jax all along. I say the next meet should be in St. Augustine or Gainesville.
