Arrow NC/SC Caravan to ZOOM FEST

Alright guys, it's that time of the year again! I know I will be going as I already signed up. I think a few people in my area are going as well, so lets start a caravan going?

Lets get the people who are SURE they are going or have already signed up to post in here, then we can work out a route. Last time we just traveled down I-85, so any exit off there to meet would be great!

From Charlotte it is about 3-3.5 hour drive IIRC. Last time I went with BigIslandSevens (Dave) We left charlotte about 3ish to get there at 7am.

So before we dive into it head first, lets get a roll call!

i'm hoping to get to go, just haven't signed up yet. haven't yet seen a "sign up by date." money is the real issue, the cost of all events + gas there and back. to do all the events i'd have to stay the night, that's another cost.

We have a huge tent with basically 4 rooms, and we will have 3 people. If you want to stay with us you can. We had our own part of the infield last year and had movies and games pretty much all night.

I had a full tank and drove down there, filled up again when we got there, then ran some laps and drove all the way back to charlotte on a tank of gas.

Mind you I have a stockported 12a, and IIRC you have a SP 13b.

So whos going down friday evening?

What time can everyone leave?

Where can we meetup?

I thought maybe the rest stop in I85 but its way down at
mile marker 2. We might want to gather up a bit sooner.

Remember its Firday night, so the traffic might be heavy coming out of
Charlotte.

I'm pretty open to times to leave. I actually have a half day at work that day.
I know I could meet up with Robby as he came down I77 past exit 25 here in
Huntersville. Not sure if Dave would want to wander over this way to or head out
down 16 or 321. Not sure how you would perfer to go Dave. That would leave
Stu meeting up with us along I85 somewhere I would think.

Anyway we have all week to figure it out.

I updated the list to include Robby and Amy.

1. Jeezus (Stu) (also bringing my father and brother in their Miata's) FB
2. BigIslandSevens( Dave) Bringing the wife, The FB, FC, And FD!!WOOT!!

I will be off work around 3-4 have to figure out when everyone is leaving and talk to my boss. I will be coming from mooresville, Amy is meeting me at work so I dotn have to drive back to statesville. I will meet up when ever. Also It might be a good idea to hit 485 loop so we dont have to go all the way to charolette. That would dump us out on 85 right?

485 would definitely be the way to avoid 77 deadlock at that hour.

Lets see what Dave has in mind for his route and when he's leaving.

Stu you still going down on Friday or escorting your dad and brother Saturday morning?

I Take 16 South to 485. Then jump on 85 and boogie down to ATL. I am contacting someone at the track to see if the gates will be open after 8ish. I know the regy trailer closes at 7-7:30. I want to be sure that we can get into the infield and set-up Friday night. I seem to remember that the gates are open almost all night. I'll report back. If all is well I plan on leaving around the 4 o'clock hour. We can meet at the Wal-Mart on Mt.Holy-Huntersville Rd.( The intersection of 16 and Mt Holly-Huntersville, just off 485.)

Dave thats kind of how I thought you'd head out. I'm thinking a better meet up spot
might be the Bojangle lot which is over by the Harris Teeter. That way you can come
down take a quick left on Mt. Holly and then when we head out its all right hand
turns, so less chance of losing folks. Also, that Walmart gets pretty busy and is
a pain to get in and out of especially with a few cars lined up.

Heres where I'm talking about:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?gl=us...06652&t=h&z=17

How long does it take you to get to that point from your place if you leave at 4?
We talking 4:30ish to meet up there?

The email I got from ZF basically sounded like we could get in after 7:30 we just
have to find the security folks and tell em we are with ZF. Hopefully thats the
answer you get as well. It be real nice to get there before 7:30 to register, but
we'd have to leave a little earlier to make it.

We'll probably have to pick up Stu along 85 somewhere.

BoJangles sounds fine for me. Yeah about 4:30 meet up is cool with me if that works with everyone else.

Calling RA now.

lol blame them

If we were to bring the tent... AMAZINGLY my car has the most room to stash it.

Remember when we went to OGTA and brought the whale tail back? Yeah, something like that.

If you cant bring what you need in a car then you should pack differently. Amy and I can get a weekend worth of stuff on the back of a mid size cruiser motorcycle. Its ok Stu we will not make fun of you for it, behind your back. Good news got the clutch half way back, still not 100% but will do

I have never been able to get the clutch system just right, not sure why. But yeah if you have one maybe Thursday I might be free. I am going to see how it works today.

Hey does everyone have those little 2 way radios, might not be a bad idea to bring them if you have them, in case some one needs to stop.

I'll post an IM we can pass around with cell phone numbers. I think I have Stu and Daves already. I might have yours as well Robby but I'm not sure.

So Stu, you girls don't want to meet up with us Friday on I85 somewhere?
Theres a rest stop at mile marker 2 we could swing by and join up. Unless
your all leaving earlier to get registered Friday night. I doubt we will be
there in time to register.

Oh yeah, got a tent now.

Stu's crew is heading down later than us I believe. If we leave the BoJangles lot at 5 we will get ther rite about 8:30 doing about 70 MPH. Is that an exceptable speed for you FB guys? I don't mind 65 or even god forbid 60 MPH

Ugh, 70 is kind of slow but if the FC and FD can't handle any faster I understand.
