My RX-7 saved by a beach towel & t-shirt

I had to share this story and see if this was anyone on the forum:

I went out to the movies today to see "The Devil Wears Prada" at Colonial theaters in Lawrenceville. I parked the RX-7 close to some trees to keep some shade on the car and I left both windows cracked about 1/2 inch. I never leave the windows cracked, especially if I am going to be away from the car where I cannot see it. I don't know what possessed me to do that. Anyway, I watched the movie then saw it was pouring down rain outside. I didn't remember I left the windows cracked, so I decided to watch "Lake House" too. Well after the 2nd movie I am walking to my car and it is hidden beside a red pickup truck, so I didn't see it until I got to it. I thought at first that the wind must have blown so hard that someone's t-shirt was blown on my car. Then when I unlocked it, I saw it was tucked in the window and a beach towel was tucked in the other window.

I was amazed that someone would take the shirt off their back (b/c it smelled of good cologne) and leave a nice beach towel to protect someone's car in a parking lot. I sure do appreciate that someone protected my car. That was awesome. My kind of guy.

I left a note on the pickup truck, but it probably wasn't the person that protected my car. So now hopefully I can find the person to return the t-shirt and towel to him.

Anyway, it sure is nice to know that people out there would do such a thing for a stranger's nice ride. AND, I am going back to never leaving my windows down.

I would be happy to buy them a beer and return the t-shirt and beach towel. But I have no way to get in contact with them.

Well certainly!! Take it off. You should have taken your shirt off for those girls, maybe one would have gone home with you.

Don't leave those windows cracked, too easy to hook the latch with a hangar and swipe the car; then rain would be the least of your worries!

Hi Tom,

As I said before.... I never leave them down, even in my garage. Just really did a strange thing that day. And, unlocking the car from releasing the latch, when the factory alarm is set, will disable the fuel system and the car will not start, unless you have the key to reset it.

It was probably Rich. I bet his seven-sense alerted him to the trouble so he removed the car cover from his FD, let it warm up for an inordinate amount of time, and then drove 3000-rpm hesitation free to Lawrenceville to save her.

Wait, that would mean he would have had to drive in the rain. Nevermind. :-)
