More Deals Gap Pictures
Here are some more pics from the Deals Gap weekend:
Arrived there Friday afternoon, checked in at Fontana Village, then the Raleigh guys found our way down to Robbinsville and the Sweetwater BBQ @ 6:00 pm and realized that we had the only rotaries in town. We waited 5 minutes for others to show up then went in and introduced ourselves to the staff and were told to make our selves at home. We did:
After a great BBQ dinner, we all got bored waiting on the rest of the rotaries drivers to show up so we got drunk, started fights with some of the locals, got arrested and bailed ourselves out and continued to wait. The dragon became restless that evening as he or she got word that the rotary brotherhood was in town, I call this one "The Dragon's Fire:
Saturday morining dawned with a heavy blanket of fog over Fontana Village, but not before the Rotary Knights had a well deserved rest and were prepared for battle, Fontana Morning:
Others of the rotary clan had made it to the mountains overnight:
end of Chapter 1. More to come!

Chaper 2, Knights of the Rotary Brotherhood prepare for battle
Yes, Saturday's soft blanket of Fog quietly lifted and gave way to a beautiful spring morning. The perfect weather for the rotaries to gather and prepare for the coming encouter. The first order of business was to get our mounts clean and make those ever so important last minute adjustments. We all needed the confidence that only a well maintained ride can give to face the Dragon for the first time. Pinky, although beautiful was no exception:
Many needed that assurance and confidence, Here is hurry up and wait:
The ol' military adage, you take good care of your equipment and it'll take good care of you applies when a battle with a Dragon is in your future, this is Pride:
The whole Leverette Clan was out in force to accept the Dragon's challenge. Unfortunately none of the Leverette boys ever learned to read!:
More to come, Chapter 3, The gathering . . . .

THE TALE OF THE DRAGON CONT'D . . . . Chapter 3, The Gathering
After our confidence is boosted and our machines fine tuned. The Knights of the Rotary Brotherhood began to assemble, There is strength in numbers! And besides no one wants to face a Dragon alone.
Our ranks continue to grow as the sun comes up. This is becoming the largest gathering of rotaries the Kingdom of Graham has seen in a long time. Sir Josh of Clayton stands in awe of the gathering might of the rotary armada as it prepares for battle:
The final count is more than 50 rotary machines will do battle with the Dragon this day,
Sir Josh and his band of merry men wonder amongst their fellow road warriors checking for the least flaw that could spell doom for an unfortunate comrade. Josh studied under the great and wise Wizard Ashraf who teachese us all that a well maintained rotary is a happy rotary, and nobody is happy if the rotary ain't happy. Here Sir Josh, unable to find a real and obvious problem points out a speck of grit lodged in the taillight recess. That could come off at high speed and blind someone! Sir Steven stands in awe at Josh's keen eyesight and our Minstral, Gregory of Turboland, is wondering how one person could be so @*%#)(! picky -
The demeanor of each warrior slowly changes as the time approaches to do battle, the laughing and joking slowly fade as each warrior looks inward and takes the measure of him or her self for the coming conflict.
To Be Continued, Chapter 4 Things go badly wrong on the eve of battle . . .

Chapter 4, The Sheriff of Graham
Not wanting to allow us in his domain without a reminder of who really drives the badest car in the kingdom. The Sheriff's deputy arrives, he immediately spots Pinky, how could he not after all he doth have eyes, and puts the bracelets on Sir Dex the Daring,
Sir Thomas de Leverette challenges the Sheriffs authority on the sacred lands upon which we prepare to battle the Dragon. Deputy John replies "Come here boy, I think I can find another set just your size." Sure enough he's got the perfect fit
As all good warriors Sir James, and emissary of the Pope sent to bless and watch over the valiant warriors, comes to the aid of his comrade, he boldly challenges the preparedness of the deupty of Graham, " I'll bet you ain't prepared to 'rest any more of us 'cause you done run out of cuffs!" Sir James was brave, but no one ever claimed he was the brightest bulb on the Leverette's Christmas Tree. The Leverettes claim that he's just a "special friend" that they let come along.
John the ever prepared deupty, he was once a Boy Scout, reaches into his pouch and pulls another pair of those silver restrainers out, looks them over carefully and says "you know boys, I also got me a set of one size fits all. These'll fit any of you just fine. Come on over Sir James and you can try'em on.
The deputy John of Graham was right. The rest of us admitted he was the badest man in the whole "dam area" (that's a joke - Fontana Dam - dam area- get it?) and after we all cooled down he release the mighty warriors to do battle with the Dragon.
