Exclamation MazdaDayz - GT Live East @VIR Oct 3-5

Once again it’s almost time for GT Live East @ VIR Oct 3-5!!! My car club, the North Carolina Rotaries, will be hosting the MazdaDayz fanfest...all Mazda models are encouraged to come out and make this one of the largest Mazda meets on the east coast!

GT Live brings the widest variety of events to a single weekend on VIR’s calendar with a pair of six-hour enduros for the Grand-American KONI Challenge sports sedans and sports cars; motorcycle stunt riding, drifting, track attack events, static displays, music, and never a dull moment. The KONI Challenge races feature cars from BMW, Porsche, Mustang, Chevrolet, Mazda and more, with star drivers from the worlds of auto racing and show business taking part. More info can be found at www.gtlivetour.com and www.grand-am.com.

To make this experience even better, those attending the MazdaDayz fanfest will be granted special parking access inside the main paddock of VIR! Literally you get to park mere feet from fully prepped race cars and be able to take in the sights and sounds of this historic race track. Our club will also set up a meet/greet with many of the KONI Challenge Mazda drivers and crew. Also, I can guarantee a chance to sit and take pictures inside of a KONI Challenge prepped RX-8 race car. In the coming weeks I will provide more info on our sponsors for the event and how to obtain your parking pass prior to the event.

As of right now I am just trying to gain info on the interest level for this type of event. Please feel free to contact me either by PM or email at i8u@inbox.com. Please mark subject as GT Live, thanks!

I'm probably going to show up again if I can get another job to pay for the gas.

The ride this year will be a bit easier since I have cruise control now...

Try to see if Mazda can put up 500 bucks so we can have a private kart race (ideally with some pro drivers mixed in, like Tarzan).

If only they had a legit lapping session there (on the full course)... doing 3-4 solo runs on the Patriot course at $12 dollars a pop (that's ~20 cents a second) just doesn't cut it. Especially when you're shortchanged a lap (considering you're only supposed to get four in the first place). And the entry fees for the full-scale time trials are massively $$$$.

This was way too much fun last year and like Nic said we really want to make sure everyone that signs up gets to park in the paddock with us again this year. We'll have an area large enough to hold 100 cars and a tent/table area.

We'll be posting more info here and on the http//ncrotaries.com website as more details are arranged.

You can also email us (ncrotaries) at evets@ncrotaries.com for info or visit the website.

I will be there most likely for all day for Saturday's events and will look at doing Sunday also. I can't wait I will try to be brave enough to do a ride along for the drifting event.

Still working with some prospective co-sponsors. If there is anything in specific you guys would like have or see at the event let me know and I will see what I can do. Already we are working out on getting some private time for the kart track. We were able to secure two thirty minute sessions last year, we are hoping for more time this year!

Terry, keep an eye on the ncrotaries forum, I believe Greg and some others were talking about renting one of those weekend houses out there.

Any more news on this? Exclusive parking and karting definitely gets my attention! Tried checking the ncrotaries site for updates but didn't want to register just to see what was there.

Also, the main GT Live site mentioned a free SCCA auto-x, but I don't see that on VIR's schedule??

Signed up! I'll probably be up there Saturday unless the weather looks like it'll be better on Sunday.

Thanks to NC Rotaries for coordinating this!

I have my three day pass in hand, now all I need is a comfortable place to stay. Can't wait to be around a bunch of sevens and guys that enjoy them like myself.

I think as of right now there are more 8's than 7's showing up for Mazda Days. I do of some Mazda 6's and 3's that will be in attendance as well!

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:22 PM.
