Ok, guys, I would like to think up some routes for our meet. The things I need to know are How far do you want to drive between stops, and how far to you want to drive total? I think the drives should be interesting- both in where we go and how we drive.

So far, I have a route like this planned (the route, not the stops):
Meet at Prime Osbourne Center just off of I95 near down town. Take I 95 North to 9A. 9A east to Hecksher Dr. Hechsher Dr to Little talbot island or there abouts. Back down hechsher dr to the St Johns River Ferry. Ride across to Mayport (Ferry is $2.75/car. Mayport down to Jacksonville Beach. A1A down to St Augustine . St Augustine up US1 to 9A North. to Jay Turner Butler, west to St Johns Town Center. From St Johns town Center to I95 south to I295 north To Blanding Blvd. Blanding to Argyle Forrest Blvd to end up at Oak Leaf Town center.
Linky to Map ( I don't know how to show it here, maybe you guys can help)http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...4,1.760559&z=9

What do you guys think? THis is just a rough draft, but something to work with.

Later,
Bill

I have sent PM's to everyone who has posted(let me know if I forgot you) in this thread, asking for info on what they want to do for the meet/cruise. The route I posted above is just an idea. As we get inputs from everyone, we can narrow it down to what we want to do. It by no means has to be as long as I posted. I just did that to give options where we want to go.

I am taking into consideration that some people may not want to drive as much, and that some are coming from out of town. I will try to narrow it down so that it is equally fun for everyone. The cruise and stops can be as long or short as we want it.

NOTE: The reason we suggested a cruise type meet is that this is all about cars. While cars are fun to drool over, they are even more fun to drive, especially when you have a big group of them all together. I love the looks on peoples faces when they see a caravan of cars together. When a whole group pulls into a parking lot, people stop and take notice.

Give me some input people and lets have fun!

Bill

I pm'ed you Bill, but I'll post in here, too. I traded in the RX-8 last week so I won't be making this one. But, I think I'll be going back to my old setup on the turbo vert so maybe I can finally make another meet.

I guess I'll have my own little cruise as I cruise past the gas stations in my 06 Jetta TDI. Have fun guys!

Tracy from Speed Fab has always done good, quality work for me! Some of the best welds I've seen, too.

Ok, Guys,
The meet is one week from today. I'm pretty sure that everyone doesn't want to spend the whole day driving. So I am thinking a shorter cruise with some fun driving, and longer stops . A couple of people brought up the question of food.

Last meet, we had PLENTY of food- enough that there was a few trays left over that if we didn't take it home, we would have to throw it. I'm not one much for wasting food, so the FB hatch area was pretty full on the way home (Not to mention that the car smelled like hot wings for the next couple of days .
I'm proposing that one of the stops be a lunch stop where we can buy our own lunch. Should be something that everyone can afford, yet is actually enjoyable to eat. I remember that in there were a couple of meets at Dave and Busters. I have never been there, how is it? There is also a buch of resturants at ST Johns Town center. I don't frequent the beaches too often, but I'm sure there are plenty of places out there as well. Your input is welcome.

The route is still up in the air. Everyone who replied to my pm said they are fine with "what ever you decide". The whole idea is to get everyone's input so that we can put it together. The thought just occured to me that maybe some stops could be at a shop (How about it Tracy, willing to show off some of your work?) or two for some bench racing/trash talking.

A shorter route than what I originally posted would be from Downtown, to the beaches via 95n to 9A to Atlantic to the beaches. Then back up JTB to St Johns towncenter. From there 9A south to I 295 around to Orange park to Speed Fab or someplace like that, then maybe some back roads through Middleburg around to Oak Leaf Town Center or Maybe to Lake Fretwell out at Cecil Field for some more photo ops. All this is just an idea, I have not yet talked with Tracy nor have I checked out any of these places. Just trying to get some feed back because we only have a week left.

IF all else fails, we can just have a normal meet like always and sit around a BS....

Feed back Guys!!

Later,
Bill

Ok, here's the deal. Since everyone seems not too interested in doing a cruise type meet, We should just do a regular gathering like we always do. We can either do it at Girvin Park as always, or maybe out at Cecil Field. There is a large parking area with a huge picnic area by a lake there. I figure since a lot of guys are from the west side/Orangepark/Mandarin, it would be closer.

6 days to go, people. What do you all want to do?

Ya Chelo won't be able to make it cause of work and I might be late because of work as well (I get off around 3ish). That'd be cool if you guys did a cruise, but if it's a stationary meet I be there even if I'm kinda late like last time lol. And yes Cecil Field would be an interesting change of scenery for a meet so I'm up for that

Cecil Feild is Free and usually few people and traffic . If you take 103rd st west all the way until it ends at New World Avenue, turn left, and take that to Lake Fretwell st. (almost at the end of New world ave.) Turn right on Lake Fretwell st. Follow that, take the left split, follot the road to the stop sign. Turn right, the picnic area is on the left. (Big parking lot between picnic area and baseball diamond. If the gate is open, we might be able to park on the grass by the lake for some great pics..

Since this is going to be a gathering, we should each bring something for food/drinks. Do we want to grill or bring stuff like last time? We had plenty last time, that seemed to work out pretty good.

I'll bring a couple of packs of soda's. Anyone need/prefer diet soda?

Bill

I just drove out to Cecil Field to check it out. There is a detour to the picnic area. You have to turn right at the blinking yellow light. Go to the first split in the road and go left. There is a sign. Then follow the road. Here are a couple of pics of the area:

What do you think?

Ok, it is set then. Cecil Field picnic area at 1pm. I know some people have to work until later so this will give them a chance to meet up with us like last time.

Here is a link to the map.(I don't know how to post a pic of it here maybe someone can help with that.):
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...96,0.1157&z=13

If you look at the map veiw, it will show the names of the roads. Switch to satalite view to see the actual place. The roads have changed a little since this map was updated, so I drew lines where the roads are actually now. Normandy has a big intersection at New World ave, with traffic lights. Turn south. 103rd st dead ends at New World ave. Just turn left when you get there. Go to the yellow blinking light and turn right. Turn left at the first split in the road (right across from the golf course). Note this little stretch is short and empty but fun . Go to the stop sign and turn right, follow around to next stop sign. Turn right and the parking area is up on the left.

SSRx7: Sodas and chips
Broken Apex: hamburgers, dogs and charcoal
