I finally cracked open that motor I got for 75 bucks today.
- Rear rotor may be toast and the bearings all show copper.
- The apex seals look brand new as do the side seals.
- Front rotor was missing a corner seal. I don't think I lost it on disassembly,
I was pretty meticulous about taking it apart. I found a corner seal spring
in the engine when I was pulling it apart.
- The eshaft has a lot of blueing on the sides of the lobes but the rotor
areas still look ok. Not sure about that yet.
- Both housings have a small amount of flaking and the rear exhaust
port was extended upwards about 1/3 of an inch through what looks
like the skillful application of a bolt, thread marks and all. The rest of
housing has no gouges or anything. Its a mystery to me what happened
to it.
- Irons look fine but the ports look big for a stock 12a but I'm not sure since
I haven't torn these things down before. No noticable step wear so I think
these irons are good.
The engine appears to have blown a rear seal on the very back top right
of the housing and that was what caused it to fail.
So looks like good seals mostly and irons with questionable housings, eshaft
and rotor. Not bad for 75 bucks.

Hey Tim. I have a set of mint 12A housings here at the house. You need to talk Long out of them. I could port you one heck of an engine. 175 rear wheel HP out of a NA 12A bridge. I should give myself a pat on the back for that one ![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
On a different note. I may be driving the Vert Sunday. I pulled it out of the garage today and drove it to the store for some gas. Felt so good, I then drove it to Mooresville. Then I come home. I had almost forgot how much better that vert rides than my FB.
O'well. Sometimes you sacrifice comfort for performance.

Yeah, I know, I missed the meet
Sorry about that but I had every intention of being out there.
I've been having some issues lately with the 7 and I thought when I replaced the
fuel filter this morning it was fixed. Took it for a test drive, turned out to be a very
short one, and it started bumbling and stumbling once it got good and hot.
I know its not a fuel issue now and I suspect its an ignition issue. Either the 2G
coil or the leading ignitor is bad. I did switch the igniters around but the battery
was weak and the car flooded so bad that I gave up on it finally and had AAA tow
it home. I think its time to switch to the GM igniters at this point.
I was going to bring some show and tell items from that engine I dismantled but
I'll just post some pics later in the week.

Awesome meet guys! That was one of the funnest ones yet...and no one got hurt, lol! Sam...gotta bring the FB out to play next time, but the ol' vert did good tho.
And Neal, yeah man my car was stuck in 5th the whole drive so....haha, your car runs great!
I'm going through all the vids my Mom took, but I guess 190,000 mile suspension makes for a bumpy ride and poor filming so don't get hurt if I don't post many vids, lol. Got some cool pics I'll post up today tho

Cool deal Anthony. Today is the fastest I have taken the Vert down that road. The sad part is, I could have pushed it a little harder
Good turnout today guys. I opoligize that we wasn't as organized as we normally are. I can't wait to finished up with college. School has got me down. Next meet the turbo FB has to get out. If I would have known how today was going to turn out personally, I would have brought it today. O'well, the vert actually impressed me going through the twisties.
Good times. Good times.
