The top mount ic on the TII will handle upwards of 20 psi. Alot of your inatake temp depends on how long your into the boost also. If you don't believe how much better my car pulls at the same boost level between the fmic and the top mount, come take a ride

20psi on a stock tmic? I'm guessing that's an accidental boost spike and not a huge turbo pushing 20 from 4000 till redline. The only other tmic cars I know of with tmic are subies.....and they put them there so the intercooler doesn't get damaged from rocks. even arc and hks top mounts suffer from heat soak and only safe to run maybe 15psi. low end throttle response is not worth premature engine failure IMO...please note I am subject to being wrong and would rather be safe than seeing my cars on jjackstands again. But a tree or nitrous will prolly kill my engines

I've done a lot of research on intercoolers lately, and from what I've noticed, the TMIC cools considerably well while the car is moving but heat soaks very quick whenever the car stops, whereas the FMIC stays cool pretty much all the time and actual lowers AIT's during boost (amazing).
So you have to weigh the good and the bad...
FMIC:
~Good: -Lower AIT's because of the larger intercooler surface area,
-Can run larger diameter piping for higher flowing intake (ported motors, larger turbos, etc.)
~Bad: -You increase the distance the air has to travel from the turbo into the motor which WILL increase turbo lag and decrease throttle response
-sometimes the extra piping will cause a significant boost/pressure drop going into the motor, as well as the turbo struggling to hold the desired boost until redline
TMIC:
~Good: -Instant throttle response and minimal turbo lag
-Most efficient and shortest path of travel from the turbo into the intake manifold
~Bad: -Because of it's location, and because heat rises it will undoubtedly absorb a lot of heat from the motor while air is not running through it
-It's not very big and won't have the cooling capacity of a larger intercooler which is ok for smaller turbos and hybrids but the larger the turbo the more heat will be created...in most cases with a combustion engine, more power = more heat....the Bugatti Veyron has 10 radiators, not sure how many intercoolers.
I personally would prefer the TMIC because of the response and because with a little bit of water injection you can cure those nasty AIT's under hard acceleration. Plus it keeps the engine bay a little cleaner, even though a huge intercooler peaking through the front bumper does look kinda sexy, lol.
I know some subies run some water over their intercoolers...that might be something to look into as well?

I already purchased my front mount and I can't trade it for crack so.....I guess my hybrid will have to be moved to my other car and I will have to upgrade

Here's some actual data to our little intercooler debate on that link. Looks like the top mount is much more efficient than I even expected. With a properly setup CAI, and some creative heat shielding you'd have a very clean setup!

Those numbers suck ***** junior. 70 percent at low boost. Let's say a quality FM is 20%. Every 10 degrees you drop your intake temp is a 1% horsepower gain. not to mention lower egts. And I told you to remove the heat shield a while back. and damn, I want the cheap *** FD...I wonder if he wants a camaro.....

I don't know about that FD. Yes, I saw it before Sam posted. Something seems a bit "off". One guy offered 3k and the OP reported the post saying that low-balling was rude and should have been done via pm. Then 2 minutes after reporting the post, he said that sale was pending for 3k...
It also looks like it is at a car lot based on the pics. If you can see it in person, verify clean title, etc., it might be a good buy. Just be careful and make sure the guy is not looking to steal a deposit or trying to sell a car that isn't even his to sell.

I agree that something does seem a little off....but then again, we are in a recession.....let's send more troops overseas instead. Of bringing them home.......I say we vote for different people who vote for different people who vote for different people...but remember, your vote counts......

It's kinda hard to argue with a multi-billion dollar design. But if E-Bay can design you one better, then go for it..........

BAD 83* was just debating a little. I'm no rexpert.
No kidding...a supercharged rotary.....I can't tell what speed it is....2?
I wonder how you control it....I have an rs4. Its awd and a pain In the *** to keep straight.
