Ok need some ideas for busting the front eccentric nut loose on this engine I bought last fall. Here whats been done so far:
Turned the engine on its "back" with the front cover facing up. Filled the cup the nut sits in with PB blaster. Let sit for a few months that way. Hit it with a hammer occasionally to help the PB do its thing.
Today let it sit with a plumbers torch right on the bolt head for about 30 minutes.
Used a 600 psi 1/2" impact to try and bust it loose. No go and I broke the 1/2 to 3/8 converter I used on the 19mm impact socket I had. I have a flywheel stopper on it so thats not an issue.
I took a 4 foot pipe and slipped it over a breaker bar on the same socket and put all 180+ pounds on the end to try and break it free. No go, almost broke the breaker bar tho.
The only thing I can think is to try an even stronger impact. Any other ideas welcome.

[QUOTE=BigIslandSevens;8884169]On a lighter note...
Who all from our group is planning on going to ZOOM-FEST 09'? I think I am going to contact Billy(organizer) and give a couple ideas of activities for us all to participate in while there. such as: Engine building contest( might be difficult do to the costs of o-rings but a thought nonetheless.
Also, things like fastest tire change, best flame thorwing, worst fuel milage
,Best burnout( if allowoed, doubtfull), best idle, easiest starting(FB,FC,FD Rx8,Etc..), Who has the most tools in their car, spare parts in the car, etc..
stupid, fun things like that, Any other ideas throw them out there. Even if you don't plan on going./QUOTE]
That sounds great. I doubt they will let us do the burnout contest.
The engine building contest would be great, I got some old oil control rings and springs and whatnot from the last couple engines I tore down that we could use as well.
Also, I am bringing a caravan of Miata's down with me. This should turn out to be one hell of a ZoomFest!

i was recommended a gasket material from CarQuest, supposedly very resistant and great product. I was wondering if anyone else has used anything similar, if so what do you recommend, other than oem?
i've replaced the oem gasket 2 times in the past 6 months and i need to replace it again, the first time the coolant o'rings went and got some anti-freeze on the gasket, 2nd time was my fault i'd left a freeze plug a bit crooked and the pressure just pushed it sideways...but this time there's no coolant or anything and it still broke, and it's just regular stockport with no boost nor anything.

i jb welded the freeze plugs in there. i have no coolant leaks but my gasket still broke it's only (3-4 months old) the oem gasket, so i was looking for other good gaskets, that gasket material is about 8 bucks after tax for the whole roll, i guess i'm gonna try it and see how it turns out, just wondering if anyone's tried anything besides the oem.
hell yeah, i may have to get you to get me some gaskets and stuff when i decide to rebuild my engine, i'm definitely gonna need some help with that, i may just get Josh Long to help me out with it since he lives closer lol...but it's gonna be a while down the road.

So, what's the deal Dre? The only thing I can think of is the croud, we brought in. I don't know? Is it possible that I could speak with the manager and try to smooth things over? Damn, I hate this. I thought we had a good thing there. Speaking of banning people, if the OGTA guys aren't ever going to come to any of our meets, I think they need to stay out of our thread......
Just kidding Ray. The TII build is something that I have been wanting to do for ever. It's just now coming together. Should be putting the engine together shortly

here is my suggestion. This is how the corvette club works. They let it free range. Every month some one new comes up with an activity or meeting place and they all try to fluctuate with one another so one person does not have to drive a hour every time and some one else is only 10 mins away each time. They made a small website with pic albums, and a calender. It works nice and keeps every one interested. We could try that for a while. Say some one could have a cookout one month, some one could have a day ride planned, some body could get everyone together for a autox, and so on. I think this would keep interest up and keep us from over staying our welcome at one place. It may take some time to get it all organized but in the long run it might be fun.

Hey Picha, I think we can work something out about you getting out at 2 from church. We originally started the meet at 2pm but it started getting cold and darker sooner.
