Holton Automotive

Chipped an apex seal on a road trip recently.

Looked up the Official FL shop list. Found Holton automotive near by.

Phoned and told them the deal, and the answer I got was this:

"I'm sorry to hear that sir but theres no one in the wrold who can overhaul one of those engines. We've got a used one we'd sell you but we're putting it in a vert. Even Mazda would just put a new engine in, they can't be rebuilt"

I'm sure these people know what our cars look like, and where lots of nuts and bolts are. But anyone who gives this answer to a customer in my position and with my background shouldn't be on an offical 7 club shop list.

We went to Maztech in Tampa and Jeff and Rocket did us a fantastic service. THAT is a rotary shop!!!!

Well, to me, it shouldn't matter who's answering the phone. If my secretary answers the phone and tells a customer that we can't paint a plastic bumper because the paint won't stick - I'd presume that customer would tell people I'm a ridiculous shop.

If they're supposed to know rotaries, you shouldn't be telling people stupid things like that. If anything say - we don't build them anymore, sorry - or whatever. Don't tell people absurd and laughably inaccurate things like they did. THats just silly.

I'm sure they're competent, but I wouldn't trust them with my rotary if there's people who work there who don't think they're rebuildable.

lol, I'm not intending to start an argument about this. Just stating what I was told - which was an entirely incorrect and ignorant response. Is that accurate? Or are they correct in that belief?

If they wouldn't want to work on my car because I feel they're un-qualified on the basis of the answer they gave regarding rebuilds.........well then I just don't know what to say. That makes it even worse for them lol
