I am starting a car for the GRM $2010 challenge. I would like some input on themes. The car is red and a 1979 model. The theme choices are Lightnin' McQueen from the movie cars or Van Halen (specifically the VH 1 album and the Frankenstein guitar). I own a vinyl graphics and sign company, so either theme is not a problem.
At the moment, the car is 1979 with j-spec turbo motor, impact turbo with modified wate gate actuator, blitz blow off valve, haltech F7c, lsd, X mags, RB intake throttle body with 4 rc engineering 750cc injectors, with SCCA SRF spec tires. The engine was pulled from a 510 and said to be making 300fwhp.
Can we vote on the theme? The kids are pushing for "Cars" but I am a big time EVH fan and I remember seeing a blurb on GRM about not seeing a VH themed car at this point in time.
I have time to spare as the next few months will be spent getting it running and sorted. Need to fire up the lathe and mill for camber plates, bushings, and what nots.

 

Post this up on the GRM forum. I used to work over there. They also love to see build threads on challenge cars.

I do know that lightning mcqueen was done about two years ago on a Celica.
