Hmmm. Deals Gap would be fun, but it's not hangout material. Those of us that want to go thrash the car we can, but I'd like to see the meet done on the side (maybe on the way - day before or after)

I am thinking in the March time frame - weather will be good. I'm with Crit. I would like to see us do a one day meet at a state park or something like that.
There is a rotary meet at Tail of Dragon scheduled for April. Here is the link.

How about Gorges State Park near Sapphire NC?
It is 3-4 hours from Chattanooga, Charlotte, Knoxville, and Atlanta. It is in a pretty area of NC near Highlands and Cashier.
It seems to have parking and picnic facilities.
What do you guys think about this for a March meet? If there is some support, I can check it out a little more closely.

I know where there is a nice mountain run not run by many cars, but cops in that county cant write speeding tickets as of now... hwy 136 starting in jasper, Ga and run it out to hwy 52 n (, hit 382 s, and you cover about 5 counties all in all the run takes about 2.5-3.5 hours depending on driver and if you wanna take the really fun roads or just the fun roads.

I considered DGRR but eh... Why spend all that money when we could get together on our own time and someone can bring a barbecue? Beer, soda, chips, burgers, etc...
I bought my 2nd RX-7 up in Blairsville...went up through the North Georgia Mountains to get it...there are some amazing turns up there...banked, sharp, some blind...best experience I've ever had. Amazing. Purely amazing. Can I say amazing again, or do I have to buy a vowel, Alex?

Sounds good to me Mike, we could stage the Atlanta people at my house and head up from here.

Gorges State Park, NC
The ride up to Cashiers area from Atlanta is really nice. Pleanty of twisty roads. Once you get in the area the drive is beautiful. I would not recomend high speed driving. But, I am one of the older Old Guys with 12A's. Mostly two lane roads with lots of curves and scenic overlooks. I can only assume the ride into the area is as nice from TN, SC, and NC.
March is before the peak season in the mountains, so traffic should be favorable also.
Anyone else have an opinion on this as a meeting spot for March/

March should be fine.
Ray, meeting at your house would be a little bit out of the way. Something like meeting up at the Race Trac right off the interstate would be easier for everyone to find (Assuming they didn't come to the meet) and it cuts six miles off everyone's trip.
Big parking lot too...and a place to get drinks/snacks/food of some sort (or oil, hose repair tape, etc if needed) before we all head up.
We'd be taking 129 up through the mountains, I'm assuming. It's an amazing drive...
Hopefully everyone realizes though, the consequences of driving too fast up there? There's little margin for error...

I'm down for going to a meet up and meeting some fellow rotor heads. I'm 99% done with my TII swap into my vert, and should be up and running real nice by March. So count me in!
