Chuck Westbrook PFC tuning class in Bham, AL 7/21 and 7/22/2007

Chuck Westbrook aka cewrx7r1 is a well known in this community as PFC/Datalogit expert. Finally the day has come where we could learn the secrets of tuning POWER FC ECUs and not rely on tuners.

I been wanting to have a chance to pick Chuck's brains for years and here is that opportunity to do so.

I just confirmed with Chuck and we have set a date for July 21st and 22nd, 2007.

The class will be around 6-8 hours long on the 21st of July, Saturday. And the cost will be $50-75/person (pending number of people sign up) with maximum of 20 students (pending demand maybe 25).

On the 22nd, individual person could hire Chuck to get in your car and he will clean up and show you on one on one for $50 an hour (Please PM me if you want to do this).

As of now, Following people have given HIGH interest in coming to this session.

1. ME
2. SPOautos
3. GARCO MOTORWORKS
4. HDP
5. Sk8world
6. AbadR1
7. Hus
8. SPICcnmGT
9. blwnrtr93
10. Noxlupus
11.

If you want to be on the list post here..

Once I see the demand, Price will be locked and payment will be collected. I would like to lock in this session by 16th of June.

Don't miss this once in a life time chance to learn about PFC.. and get over your fear about tuning the car on your own! $50 is a chump change for most of us PFC owners and definitely you'll gain knowledge about your car! If you don't have a PFC, this might be a great way to learn about them. FYI, I paid $500 to attend a class to learn about basics of tuning.. so, for the tenth of the cost, you'll learn the specifics and ins and outs of PFC...

PS. If you already have a FD edit, please bring your laptop with you. If you have a spare laptop, please bring it with you (tell me if you have one on this thread!). Otherwise, you'll just have to share or learn without stepping thru FC edit.

Hope to see some of you in July!!

PHIL

Phil,

I might possibly be able to bring 2 laptops. I won't know for sure for a couple of weeks. I'm trying to change jobs and if I do then I won't have the 2 laptops but right now I have access to 2 of them through my current job.

Also, I'm excited about the opportunity to learn from Chuck.

Awesome Brad!

I also have two laptops and Chuck will show us in detail what we need to do during this seminar. I think this is going to be a great way for us to learn more about our cars and become tuners ourselves!!

Also, let me know who's interested in one on one tuning session with Chuck.

By the way, Pending interest, We might try to have an engine building seminar after this.

It will be like the PFC seminar... I'll find a great engine builder, get an engine to disassemble, learn some trick, maybe porting, and talk about each parts of the engine, and assembling..

I know a great engine builder with 25+ years of experience... I'll mention this idea if any of you are interested..

Some of you might have, or know that I sell a set of tuning notes and other FD information. Some items in this digital package are:

(1) PFC/DL Tuning
(2) Throttle Body Setup
(3) Common FD Engine Parts
(4) Turbo Terminology
(5) Spark Plugs
(6) AFR EXCEL Worksheet
(7) MAP Sensor Calibration EXCEL Worksheet
(8) MAP Sensor Calibration EXCEL Data Collection Table
(9) PFC Split Calculator EXCEL Worksheet ( for those without a DL)
(10) Alternate 5th Gears

Parts of this package relating to the PFC/DL and tuning will be provided as part of the class.

This class will cover the common aspects of what the DL can do such as timing, injector setup , AFRs that you will see in all maps; and how to change them. But, I will also explain other DL parameters that most professional tuners don't adjust even though they are very important for engine survival, or for better and smoother performance.

Some owners do not use an efficient method to log, and to properly apply the results to their map. I call this the "Art Of Logging And Editing" and it will be covered.

How to calibrate your map sensor and O2 wideband will also be included.

Chuck, First off thanks for doing this. Second could you talk about timing some, and how ports effect timing and what not. I think most of us, I know Phil and I have been wondering exactly how a good safe way to adjust timing is, especially when going from a stock port to a street port.

Chuck, so an EXCEL workbook containing MAP Sensor Calibration, Data Collection Table, AFR and PFC Split Calculator worksheets will be provided as well as the PFC/DL Tuning guide?

I will work with Chuck regarding the packet.. But I think the way it should be done is when everyone makes the commitment (by making the payment), I'll get your email address and I could send that info out to everyone.. How does that sound Chuck?

Then you guys could print it on your own, read over than come to the seminar prepared! Otherwise, for a small fee, I'll print it out for you.

Only 4 more people, then I'll start collecting payments..

Also, those who sign up for this class will have a special access to MRCCAL.com Tuning section.. There we'll talk about tuning and share ideas.

In case event that there is/was any confusion. I wasn't referring to hard copy when I was talking about a workbook. I was talking about an excel workbook; a file that contains one or more worksheets that you can use to organize various kinds of related information.

Having said that, I like the idea of having it emailed us so we can familiarize ourselves with it prior to showing.

I got ya! Sorry for the confusion..

I guess now I need to plug the class..

Just so everyone know, This is a phenomenal deal!! I believe I've paid $30 or $35 for Chuck's notes by itself.. This is hands on, ask questions, kind of seminar.. Again, once in a lifetime chance!... Unless Chuck decide to do this again on later date.. This might not happen again.

4 spots left!

As this is a first, it depends on how well it goes and if the attendees think it was worth it after it is over.

I have to gather/prepare some logs as well as plan out the course so it won't be just add lib to my notes.

So for now, this is it as I was asked to do it.
