Brian Cain Dyno Tuning in Charlotte
hey folks,
I'm trying to line up Brian Cain to come to Charlotte for dyno tuning, probably sometime later in the summer. His fee is $350 + expenses, so of course the more people we line up, the cheaper it will become. Brian is a very sharp guy who has worked on David Garfinkle's car and numerous high hp single turbos. He's considered a Haltech "specialist" but also knows the PowerFC very well, and likes to tune conservatively for reliability, vs. ultimate peak numbers. We will be using the Mustang dyno at P1 Auto http://www.p1auto.com/ Ernst with RX-7 World may also show up if any of you guys have taken your car to him (like me)
let me know....

I might be in, I will probably be getting an initial very conservative tune at P1 when I get my car back and put some miles on it. I will need a full tune though once I break the motor in all the way and to tune for slightly higher boost levels. Only limiting factor for me is the date of the tuning session, as soon as I know that I will know if I can attend or not.

Guys, make sure your system is free of boost creep. If you're overboosting, tuning will stop.
Also, if you intend to have him tune beyond 13psi, make sure you are running race gas. If you're only running pump gas, Brian will not tune above that. Just wanting to make sure you know what you're dealing with so there isn't any diappointment. We had this issue here in SC last time he came out.

I guess we need to settle on a date, so I'm going to throw out July 22nd (Saturday), I'm not sure how many cars Brian can do in one day, but I will ask him
I won't know the full price with expenses until everyone that wans to join in is signed up

I can do realistically about 3 cars per day as I tend to spend atleast two hours per car unless it's already very well setup.
Regarding boost limits, I'll explain it in further detail to you guys while I am there, but I have an issue with pump gas and it has to do with is great amount of unreliability under high boost levels. I don't require race gas; I just require that the customer understand the risks once I get to a certain boost level.

ok, July 22nd....I have WolfpackFD3S...anyone else?
since Brian like to tune on the road, I'm going to go that route...dyno fees would be extra for those interested
Brian, for on-road dyno tuning, all you need is a wideband?

I've got somee people interested in a date in July out in Alabama as well. Plus, on top of that, I've got a friend's wedding to attend in July but I am not exactly sure what the date is. I'll have to get back to you guys to get something more solid.

Any news about available dates Brian?
I think I might be able to get a hold of one more person. I personaly would like to be tuned on the dyno at P1, not that I wouldn't trust the road tune, I just feel more comfortable with a dyno tune.

How Many People Do You Need to Tune?
How many people need to be on the list before you will come down? I see that a lot of people wanted the tune, but no one has updated or made a list of how many people are actually going to be in on the tune. Maybe I'm missing something, but could anyone be ready to tune in June? or would this be way to soon?

The later in June the better, don't know when the AL guys are doing theirs so that would be good to know. I guess that the weekend of July 22nd that Improved FD threw out there is still available, and that would be good for me. What does everyone else think? Maybe we should get a list going?

Ok, should have done this on my last post. Brian please chime in if July 22nd weekend is the best for you as it seems that is good for most people who have expressed interest. Everyone please add their name to the list so Improved FD can keep track of everyone.
