BRIAN CAIN "BDC" TUNING IN HUNTSVILLE, AL.
#27
I just want a street tune. My max HP days are gone and so are the 60's. I will be able to slip in anytime during the week. I plan to bring my son and watch and learn. Good to see so many people here in Huntsville that feel the need for speed. Just a warning....... the police here in Madison are out in force. Giving a lot of tickets to soccer mom's and any body else they can. It appears to be a revenue thing more than anything else.

Thanks for the heads up Doc. I am just building mine as a safe 250ish hp street car to beat up on some stock Civics with big pipes. I will be happy for now with stock wastegate boost and concentrate on the rest of my car like paint, audio, and suspension.

I'm opting for early June if that's alright with you guys. It ought to give ya'll enough time to get stuff sorted on the cars and get 'em ready. Speaking of which, here's some of what I need settled:
- All cars with exception of anything that's *way* high horsepower need to run all 9's all around. Some of you FD guys can get away with the B10EGV's I believe.
- Stock spark plug wires, especially for the FC's and 1st gens that have remote-located ignition setups (I'm not going to spend alot of time troubleshooting RF problems)
- Those with MT's (Microtech) keep them as close to unmodified as possible. Those ECU's don't accomodate for map transfers so it makes them considerably more difficult to tune time-wise
- Please have an O2 sensor bung available as I use my own wideband. If any of you guys are aspiring to use your own wideband, of which I will not reject, if it's a Bosche sensor make sure it's mounted well down the exhaust plumbing as that sensor is susceptible to rotary heat which will cause erroneous and deccelerative readings
- For guys wanting to run over 14psi (over my 91/93 octane pump gas limit), get some zip ties on all of your vacuum caps and make sure your intercooler hose clamps are tight
If I think of anything else, I'll add it to this list.

Brian, do you remember what sensor came with my innovative LC-1 wideband? I did not have an extra bung put in the DP this time as I just turned of o2 feedback and was going to use that bung. I know its close to turbine but I figured it would be ok for tuning only.? Now I am having a magnaflow muffler welded in my MP and I can have a bung installed at that time as well if needed.??

The Innovate units use the Bosche sensor. They can't take the heat of the rotary when they're placed in the downpipe - been there, done it. If you're to use that wideband, place the sensor well down the exhaust stream closer towards the end of the downpipe if possible. Otherwise, we can use mine.
Having a 2nd bung welded in for the w/b strictly will be worth it.

well i wont have my motor broke in by the begining of june maybe more like the mid-late june? but my friend chris can prolly be ready to go, but heres a question for brian.. he has the haltech e8x in a s4 car with a s5 jspec t2 motor and he can get the haltech to work right, could you possibly be able to figure this out? i dont know what is wrong with it but ill ask him again and let you know becuase he is stumped

Brian, can you break in motors on the dyno? also can you do quick break ins on road? If so it would be better than me putting 1500 miles on it or so. I have atkins seals. Let me know.

Dustin, IS the motor a complete new rebuild? Bearings and all? We tuned mine last time with 800 miles on it. I know a few guys making huge power who break them in on the dyno also. Do you have it all together yet? Or are you expecting to finish it right when Brian gets here? Mike

The engine is a fresh rebuild. I have to check with the builder if the bearings had to be changed or not. The car I pulled the motor from had less than 39k and I think the motor had less than that. I am hoping to get my car together in time. I have been waiting on all of my aluminum parts to get back from slonsho for polishing. I still have to fab my intercooler pipes and my fuel lines, but that should not take long. Give me a call some time at 256-655-3325.

Just to ask, has anyone really talked in depth with Robert at StaticX? I am certain he will let you guys run the dyno for a whole day, but you probably want to schedule this in advance. Also this isn't one of those cheap mustang dynos or anything, it is a Dyno Dynamics one of the best money can buy.

Well I did not get a hold of the dyno today. It will be Monday before I have pricing. But I am sure between the 2 dynos we can have one of them setup.
Brian, Have you looked into airline tickets? Is the cost going to be included in the $350 tune? What dates are you going to be here?

I hate to do this, but I'm going to have to drop out. I was hoping to get a new intercooler in time but it doesn't look like its going to happpen. I don't want a tune on the stocker, so I'll have to wait. Sorry guys
