BDC tuning in mid-tn
alright guys, im now a father and have no more time for messing with my car too deeply. . . no more all-nighters.
anyways, im trying to get a tuning session together with brian d. cain (BDC on the forum) from BDC Motorsports. hes located in texas, and has a lot of experience with rotaries and tuning. he is WELL known for his amazing bridgeport work. he has a lot of high hp FC's running around that can thank him for the work. his first 400rwhp rx7 came in either 2000 or 2001 (cant remember. . . one of those two years), and has since had a good few cars that have come out over that mark. . . a 500rwhp rx7 being one that came a few years later.
he performs what he calls "dynamic" tuning. he massages the entire spectrum of the tuning process and makes sure its RIGHT. because of the type of tuning he performs. . . it takes a couple HOURS to get ONE car completely tuned.
he is very well known on this forum, so you can search up his s/n for a good bit of history. . . "BDC".
his prices are set at $350 + shipping. the group of people getting the tuning done would pay their tuning fee plus an evenly divided portion of the airfare.
having plenty of ROAD WORTHY cars dedicated to this tuning session would make things easier for the whole to pay for the ticket out here.
so, if anyone is interested. . . go ahead and post here. . . ON THE LIST!!!
that means do some copy/paste action, alright. . .
please post your s/n, name, type of rx-7, and EMS:

the time frame. . . sorry about that. im looking for mid to late november, but it also depends on the mass of people and when they want the tuning done. i mean. . . i cant possibly say, "do it this time or dont come at all" because id never get him out here.
BUT, basically, im looking at mid to late november. . . as stated earlier.
the tuning session would be held in the murfreesboro, tn area. somewhere around there.
paul
p.s. i notice you already KNOW of BDC. based on your signature, that is.

well, im figuring street tuning. if people wanna get on the dyno, i can square it all away with a local shop. the only problem is that itd end up taking a couple days. . . not just one. . . all the cars are gonna have several hours spent on them. so, itll be hard to square away a dyno session for several days. . . maybe just have people run to the dyno after their tuning is done. . . or if you WANT to do your runs on a dyno, let me know here and ill try to get it squared away. in any event, you can always come out here and hang out. . . and wait for people to come back after tuning. and for for rides? hehe.

this is looking pretty good guys. right now, we have enough people to get this all done. the more the merrier, though. so if more people wanna sign on. . . just keep em rollin.
just got done talking to brian. he doesnt take payment until AFTER the tune is complete and the owner is satisfied with the tune. hows THAT for customer service?!?!?!?
airfare. . . we have to set up the airfare before he comes out here. . . obviously. what im going to do is search for the cheapest route out of texas. . . this is hard because of love fields ridiculous law against cheap fares out of their airport. however, im going to do my best. if anybody has any connections. . . pm me and let me know. . . i encourage everyone else to look up some ticketing and whatnot and pm me that info as well. . . more people working on it will surely get the best price. anyways, we have to purchase the tickets, and email the itenerary to him so he can get ready for it all. ill get cracking right now. . .

Who is this 'BDC' person you speak of? The only people who go by initials are arrogant, long-haired hippie jerks who like to pretend they know what they're talking about...
Except for Brian Cain, that is. Brian is a hell of a guy. He's one of the very few people that I'd trust without question to work on my car. On top of that, he's hella nice as long as you keep him away from Kryptonite (aka tree pollen).
If I wasn't having to save pretty much every penny I have in order to move to Califonia in February I'd be all over this. To paraphrase a great movie quote, "If you have the means, I HIGHLY recommend it."

alright, im looking at something around the 1st of december. ive found on www.southwest.com a special from texas to here for 87.00 one way. we can buy two one way tickets and thatll end up being around 50.00 extra for everyone. . . unless more come along. . . which is doubtful. let me know if im an idiot and have over-looked anything.
now, what i need to know is the flexibility of the "tunees" schedules. what i figure we could do is fly brian out on wednesday, november 30th, and start street-tuning the two local cars on thursday, december 1st. . . which are mine and david garfinkles. then, on friday, december 2nd, we street-tune the other two cars. the following day, saturday december 3rd, we all head out to the dyno shop and do the final touches of the tune. . . WOT.
i need to know how this flies with all you guys. . . ASAP.
we can either rent the dyno for one day for 650.00 or pay by the hour. now, we all know that tuning for WOT normally doesnt take more than one hour/car. . . unless, brian does other things that we can only dream about. hahaha. i, personally, think that paying by the hour is the best way to do things. theres no need for us to have use the dyno the ENTIRE day. . . from what i can figure. . . we only have 4 cars. BUT, if we do so. . . thats an additional and MANDATORY 162.50 per car for the daily rental. that means we can do whatever we want for the entire day on that dyno. that ALSO means that if someone needs more street-tuning. . . we can easily say, "yeah, go out and get it done. . . well wait and throw my vw gti up there for giggles." either way has its ups and downs. i highly doubt anyone is gonna rent the dyno out from under us if we dont rent it for the day, but having it to ourselves would have its benefits. . . TIME being the major one.
so guys. . . let me know with a quickness how you feel about all of this. . . let me know if you dont mind staying the night (we can figure something out so you dont HAVE to stay in a hotel) out here to wait for the "dyno day". . . just let me know how you feel about all this.
FAST!!!
oh, btw, there is ONE upfront cost on all of this for sure. . . which is the plane ticket. if im to order these tickets i need the payment rapidly. . . RAPIDLY. i cant cover all this cost myself in order to be payed back at the end. . . unfortunately. otherwise, id do it in a heartbeat and let you guys pay me when you get here.
paul
p.s. the dyno is at a shop called delk performance (www.delkperformance.com) and it is a mustang dyno. . . its specs can be seen here: http://www.mustangdyne.com/MD-1750-series.htm
edit: i need to know if you guys all have wideband capabilities. the dyno shop has a wideband, and can even weld in the bung for you. . . but this all will change the pricing for the individual. i have an innovate lm-1 in my car that is totally portable. if the people who do NOT have a wideband setup will purchase one of the o2 sensors, and bring it with them. . . i have no problem lending my controller out. that means youd have to get a bung welded into place as well. the o2 sensors can be had on www.1stvwparts.com for VERY cheap. though, i cant remember the stupid part number right off-hand ATM. you can search for the o2 sensor using a 2000 golf with a 1.8t in it. . . its the 39.00 sensor. . . theres only one like that.

I got my own wideband and a couple bungs in the downpipe incase brian wanted to use his own. I could probably get a day or two off of work and head up there whenever.
I guess we need brians input on the dyno thing as far as time and whatnot. I know that i am personally gonna go hit up my local dynojet soon as i get back from all this.
Payment details man, where do i send how much money to?

well, i dont want to start taking money up right now since i havent even squared away the ticketing. i also wanna make sure those dates are good for everyone. i assume theyre good for you.
i talked to brian about the dyno. . . and he agreed that the dyno fare is not a good deal. . . they went up on their pricing since the last time i used them. geh. i THINK he is okay with just doing this on the street. there are plenty places that are very slow and untouched. if that is the route everyone wants to go. . . then maybe we should just do that. . . cause man, that dyno crap is gonna rack up the price.
also, i looked at the wrong airfare pricing. . . and im VERY sorry about that. i didnt think about the whole love airport thing and how dallas seems to have a monopoly on air travel. haha. anyways, the cheapest tickets ive been able to find are with orbitz for $272. . .
that equals out to be. . . $68/person. now, the dates i set on the ticket are for him to fly out here on dec 1st and leave on dec 5th. if those dates are okay. . . then everyone is welcome to send me payment via paypal. my paypal address is hotchilis4sale@hotmail.com
so, there we go. . . the tuning dates are dec 2nd for the local guys, dec 3rd for the out-of-towners, and the 4th will be a relaxation day i guess. . . or we can figure something else out. . .
im sorry this all has taken so long, but im trying to get all the details worked out before i start posting them, and i just wanted to take in consideration everyones situation. BUT. . . it seems i just need to put out the dates and let everyone come. . . so, there they are. . .
tuning dates are set as dec 3rd for local and dec 4th for others. make sense?
again. . . paypal the airfare payment to hotchilis4sale@hotmail.com and ill buy the tickets.
