I was returning from a buddies house in Jax, man that was a beautiful day, **** its a good day when the FD starts. Anyways, looking forward to meeting you buddy.

Well, I'm here, and just about situated. Got a few days until we start orientation (Friday). My car's in Orlando, so I'm prob. gonna try and head down there via Greyhound (unless anyone's up for a drive haha) tomorrow to pick 'er up. When you guys up for a meet?

Also, I got my driver's license switched no prob, and got FL insurance (man ya'll are expensive down here). But the Tax Collector's office said they need to inspect the vehicle's cluster to verify the mileage before tagging & titling the car. Anyone know if they'll make a fuss if the odometer is in km (not miles)?

Last one...anyone recommend any good tint shops? I was thinkin of goin to this place:

Custom Glass Tint
125 C Northeast 23rd Avenue
Gainesville, FL 32609
Phone: 352-377-8468

It's the closest place I found that uses Formula One films (http://www.formulaone.com/) which IMO are the best/highest quality. Any other suggestions would be welcome as well.

Thanks,
~Ramy

PS: I CAN'T BELIEVE there are no good kabob places around here...I'm DYIN! lol

if you can wait till mid next week I can give you a ride to orlando as long as you pay for gas. Although it probably cheaper to pay greyhound then gas for the 7, lol.

So Ramy's down south with us now....nice. He'll love the money he'll end up saving on his living situation and blow it on the 7....like we all do. It's like, "man, I just freeed up $250 a month, what can I buy for the FD now!"
Good luck with the job Ramy.

Ramy,

A girl I've been training has a kickboxing match in Orlando on Friday. I know I'm riding down with her on Thursday night...I could get you to Orlando (would be cramped in her civic) but really couldn't drive you anywhere specific.

Just a backup in case Pure can't take you possibly.

Haha Rory you bastard...I deserve that probably for the "one not running for certain" comment. Maybe if we do a meet in August when Ramy has the time you will be able to make it up.

@Ramy - I've had the fortune over the years to train with a lot of very, very good fighters in a number of disciplines: Judo, Brazilian Jujitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Kickboxing. Despite great instructors I suck at them all equally. I haven't really done anything in a couple of years but a friend asked me to train them for a fight so I agreed...the bug may be biting me again...we shall see.

Rory used to work next door to a business I owned where we had a back warehouse full of mats that a bunch of people randomly trained so he knows what a big puss I am. =)

insurance registration my driver side door is busted... im broke and unemployed....
soooo its a work in progress but i do start it every day now...... thats the only good thing going on now..

Rory, sounds like you got quite a history down here...and quite a project ahead of ya haha. Hopefully we'll get to see your car up and running soon 'nuff!

A meet in August sounds like a plan btw...

Ramy, I used to live their and meet most of the rx7s owners on this forum from their. And everyone of them is a good guy/girl. It is kind of a boring town. But god do I miss mellow mushroom (owned by a fellow rotorhead Deo). Kevin, hell if you do another meet at the mellow mushroom I will gladly drive my 3rd gen up their.

Hey Ramy,

Kevin, a great guy from my gym, has been telling me about your move to G-Ville for some time so I wanted to welcome you here.....a little later than most, but welcome to gatorland.

I've lived here for @ 3 years and have met some of the local 7 owners and most are good guys. Kevin has organizd a few meets and when I know about them I go. I'll look forward to our next get together whenever that is. There are more
7's here then people know of. Hopefully they will all come to the next get-together. If you are still in need of a ride to Orlando in the future I'm pretty free most weekends and would give you a ride for a free lunch. Let me know.

Hey Jimmy,

Thanks for the warm welcome I'm definitely interested in finally meeting you guys; only about a week and a half to go until I'm back on a semi-normal schedule (days).

The car's STILL not done, and I'd anticipate we're looking at another week or two easy (long story) until she's finished, so I'll keep you guys posted re: drivin down to Orlando. And of course I'll cover gas/lunch/whatever. Least I can do

Got a few more questions

- I ran into someone the other day who told me there's a real good rotary specialist local to us... I THINK this is the place he was talking about:

Holton Automotive
1605 NW 6th St.
Gainesville FL 32609
352-384-0018

I read a couple of good reviews on the shop in this section, other than the fact that apparently they don't rebuild motors anymore? Hopefully that won't be a concern anyway So they're pretty much the go-to guys around here I take it?

Also, I heard there are car meets Thursday nights (11 PM IIRC) next to the Ale House on Archer Rd...any you guys go to that? Worthwhile? And do the FD guys still meet at the Kazbors parking lot on Tuesday nights?

You actually have two good rotary guys in town. Holton is one, the other is Gunnar (GP Auto). I trust my cars with both of them.

Hi guys. I am not sure if you all like meeting up with other Mazdas, but a group of us have been meeting up on Wednesdays and grabbing dinner, and heading out to the Gainesville track. Not a of of us, 5 or 6.

I saw the post about Mazdapalooza above, and realized there was no thread here. I am one of the OG for Palooza. This Summer will be a lot like 06. Laid back, hang out. show, raffle, giveaways, etc. It is in Clearwater for Summer 2008.

I made a thread for it:
https://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-forum-35/mazdasummerpalooza-2008-july-20th-clearwater-fl-771736/

Hope to meet up with some of you guys. I am sure I have met you before. I have a Silver Speed 3 and a Gray CX-7.

Hey Ramy,

No problem with the ride to Orlando whenever you're ready. I'm not so worried about the gas the lunch will be fine. We'd probably go in my Corolla if thats ok... Its cheaper on the gas! I will be heading to Seattle and Vancouver during the last week of July which might coincide with your plans. Hopefully not.

As for Holton Auto....he's performed some work for me and I was very satisfied. (Rad. change etc.) Quinton, the owner, is a soft spoken laid back guy who instills confidence. Gunnar I know nothing about.

Ocala has Carlos Gonzalez (352-266-5201) who I've spoken with but have not seen his shop. I think he does engine work but sounds like he's more into race applications.

Can't say much about the meeting places either....never been.

Holton is a great guy and have always been satisfied with the work. Tom and Jack can vouch for him as well.

Last time I talked to Carlos he was more into race applications. Normal stuff kind of fell by the wayside for him but that was a couple of years ago.

Oh and the lunch place I'm gonna hit up in Orlando (that's on me) has AWESOME food, so it'll be WELL WORTH IT

I think there's somethin goin on the first week of Nov. which I'm gonna try to make...

Wish I could take you Ramy but I have the in-laws in town.

I've seen you on the floor a couple of times and waved to you but I think you were zoning out.LOL...either that or you didn't recognize me in scrubs vs a shirt and tie.

Hang in there man.

Eddie
