We got to the park at about 1:45 PM or a few minutes earlier... so you must have gone to the main entrance...
For some odd reason the police closed the park from what I was told by phone from two of the guys who had been at the park since 11:30 AM
Next time call.. and here is my number for about the 100th time or so: 786-286-3351

I had a blast. There was alot of cars in the caravan, when the video comes out it's going to be awesome!! I agree with Direct Freak the two way radios made a big difference. Thanks to VAl for organizing the event and Luis form Dragon Motorsport for the sponsor. The next meeting at Markham Park (Dec. 11) is going to be even better and the weather should be cooler.

The weather was great... no rain
This was by far one of the best all time meets that I have been a part of since I came onboard as organizer in March of this year.
Thru careful planning and support of some of the pioneers or should I say veterans such as Directfreak, Stealthman, AIC Rotary, DragonMS, Lucky7305 & TwEaK it all became a reality. There were others that played an integral part as well that will not go unrecognized for their involvement in promoting these RX-7 events.
The morning started with a get together at my shop in West Kendall at 10:30 AM. There were some early birds that kept patient while the stragglers rolled in a bit later. We had scheduled a departure of 11:30 but didnt end up leaving until Rob20RX7 showed up at 1:00 PM and not a second later or else we would have dipped.
The Natives like Directfreak, HKSFanatic, Pornstar, Stealthman, TwEak, MazaMazda, Lucky7305, Ron Singh, David & few others were getting antsy and restless.. not to mention Tai was getting a bit trigger happy and anxious to hang out Directfreak co-pilot window to catch all the action on the video camera. We had a newcomer Anthony "SLALOM29" show up in his pristine Black RX-8. "Black is Beautiful.. Once you go black.. you never go back ! " Darkphantom showed up a short while after at my shop in Kendall as well as what I thought was Phil's car.. well it was sporting his trademark red wheels but driving it was TwEaK... I said Huh ? A few othe guys showed up like Kuong (The original owner of my vert 6 years ago) but he forgot to bring the charcoal. Also George in his turbo powered Eagle Talon (Just happens to be a previous owner of my vert) .. Did I mention that Phil 'AICRotary" also owned a my vert Jezebel at one time also... Yep ! Jezebel was a bad girl.. she got around
We had a Rust colored orange like 350Z as well as Carlos - Owner of Blazin' Imports showed up in a tricked out Toyota Celica; He was responsible for putting on the car show where we took 4 trophies.. Three 1st Places and one 3rd Place for Best Club. Carlos "uberRX7turbo" who happens to be our website designer showed up in his cobalt blue VW Jetta ? Curtis "Turbo2", Carlos "MrBoost", Ariel "2ndGenRex7", Vydesh "MarlinMotors", Chris "RX7Savannah", Joseph"HKSFanatic", Oscar "Spoolin1012". Jean-Paul "LuckyJr.", Darian "Dominator5158", Roger "RX7TheOne" and his wife Violeta.
Some of the guys did not show up because get this.. They didnt know where we were going to meet.... It goes to show that some people either dont go to the RX7 Forum or they dont check the emails that I broadcast out to everyone. On the day of the meet its really hard for me to take calls on giving directions when all you have to do is log onto the F******n forum or by simply reading your email address. Dont blame it on your kids hogging up the puter.. put your foot down and get on it yourself. Sheeesh !
We were sad to hear that Shayne (Red 1st Gen w/ RX8 Seats) blew his motor on the way to my shop. Even thru all that and the tow truck coming to pick up his car he still managed to make it to the meet. Now, there is some love for the rotary.
One of the best ideas was that of Alex "Directfreak" which was to use Two-Way radios so we could communicate on the drive and to be able to coordinate the great video footage that was caught by Alex and Tai.
When the engines were started you could hear the sound of rotaries that definitely overshadowed the other non rotaries that were with us. It was great to have them with us along for the ride.
I , with LOUD MEGAPHONE in hand made three (3) separate announcements to let everyone know that we were going to take the turnpike instead of the 874 to 826 since Edgar "Mazdapros" & Alex "SilverRX8" were waiting for us at NW 107th Ave + 836 Expwy. I tell you that I literally have to beat it into some peoples brains so it will register that we were to take the turnpike instead. These few select persons ended up not being part of the caravan because they kept on going towards the palmetto (826) instead of following us on the Turnpike. Once we got on the turnpike headed North is when all the action began. We communicated via Two-Way radios and we were able to keep together and race up when it was necessary to get our 5 seconds of fame as we blasted in front of the camera. It was hard for me to drive, use the radio and my cell phone answering calls from the guys who missed the boat because they got on the Palmetto instead. You snooze (while i make announcements) .. You lose..
The action was great on the turnpike and then when Edgar and Alex joined us on the Dolphin Expwy man that was awesome !!! I got to get me some boost.
It was well scripted man getting on the palmetto after that and trying to dodge all the crazy drivers on the Palmetto and most specially when we got closer to Hialeah. I did warn you guys on the 4 Lanes of Highway on the Gratigny... Once we got on it.. everybody broke loose... it was great to see everyone enjoying the nice open lanes on the Gratigny.
It was a quick ride that lasted about 35 minutes total I would have to say. Once we exited I got a phone call from Luis "DragonMS" and Frankie "Kandela" that the police had closed the park entrance for some unknown reason so we sat at gas station for a few minutes while we figured out what to do. Dragon had talked over with the park manager so we could meet by the soccer fields which is where we went.. there were some people there and some newcomers like:
Chris "RX713b4URAZZ" in his FC
Joe "LWNSLW" FB
Ali "OneFlyTrini"
Edisnel (FC)
Terry "342rwhpFC" who came from Boca and was built by Osborne Racing.
Juan Peña "RX7Movilparts"
Dominic "Joker585" (FC)
Chris "JockthisPrep" (FC)
Rick "Syncro" (FC)
Regino "FC3-GXL"
Juan "El5Letra"
Robert (White FB)
Alejandro "AZFUK"
Jose "YellowFB2+2"
Sunnie "Madagirl81"
Jr. "BoricuaRX7" & family
Simon "Papsmagu"
Ariel (White FD Owner) showed up in a cobalt blue Honda motorcycle.
Carlos Lopez of CLR Motorsports attended our meet as well
For the next meet I will assign who will bring what... I had too many people that very morning call me and ask me what they should bring.. my head is not in worrying about that crap... so from now on I will asign a task to each person. I bought some 67 Nathans Hot dogs and Ismael had gotten several boxes or Hamburger meat and we could not prepare them because no one brought a BBQ Grille. That sucked .. that really sucked.. and its not very nice that its always the same people who show up and never bring anything. So no more of this... you will know what you will bring and for God's sake man !! Check your freakin' Email !!!
Some of the guys played some touch football... it was great to see all the 1st gens parked together . as well as the 2nd, 3rd, and RX-8's in their respective places... that was very cool. The Uncool situation that we had occur is that DarkPhantom took it upon himself to show off and do some donuts in the freakin' parking lot man... C'mon.. give me a break.. there were several people who were not pleased at all with that... we dont need any problems like those messing up our venue or outing. I have mentioned this before at a prior meet and at this point there may be someone who will say that i am singling him out but I am not the only one that had to witness this. Bring it out into the light because it concerns all of us. So please dont mess it up for everybody else ok.,
Overall it was a nice time to have out there and most specially for Luis "TwEaK" who was the lucky winner of the Universal Front Mount Intercooler that was donated and raffled off by Luis of Dragon Motorsports. Carlos Lopez of
CLR Motorsports donated a prize for the remaining Raffle ticket owners. Joe was the recipient of that prize. A spanking brand new can of Red High Heat paint... indigenous of Carlos Lopez signature red color of the motors he builds. That was pretty funny... but like I said we had a great time and it was a great meet....
We sang Happy Birthday to Paul "Lucky7305" who was turning 49 years old this past weekend. Curtis had a birthday just two weeks prior so we included him as well.
We also collected some money to chip in for the Churrasco Meet for our next meet taking place at Markham Park on Sunday December 11th.
We had a total of 41 cars show up and over 53 persons just show up even without their 7's.
We also had a few no shows that either had personal obligations and a few others that either got lost, woke up late, or just didnt know how to get in contact with us such as:
Titos toy, Dennis DeSilva "RPM Doctor", Steve "STS Racing, Arnold Bush, Angel "User35AQ", Pito "LopezRacing", Danny "550rwhprex", geo110282, 12Akid, Leatherface24, DwightFC, Mystirious Master, MarcoMarine, CastilloRX7, Outkast (will be at Markham for sure), Lester "TheJester"
I want to thank everyone who came out and supported this great RX7 event and with this type of showing it will set the foundation for future meets to come.
Be well and Be Blessed,
Val "PREACHER"
