Everytime I have driven past that old landing strip I always said to myself that would make a good dragstrip. A couple of buddies of mine have also thought about street racing there in the night.

I spoke to one of the partners and they are ready to open in about three 3 weeks for a sunday daytime event hopefully before the new year.
I plan on getting the info to maybe rent the track for a day just for us rotorheads.

Sounds like a great place to practice launching, after all that is the most important part of drag racing.

FYI....
I spoke to a friend of mine that has a drag car and he spoke to one of the partners on Friday night at Towers. He stated that they purchased 400 acres out there and they will increase it to 1/4 mile sometime in the near future. Right now it is going to be 1/8th of a mile just to open BUT the future looks briter if they get the support. I hope it all works out for them. I for one will help support them since it is only 20 miles from my house....

I cant wait for this. Since not being able to hook up for the majority of the 8th mile, this will allow me more practice since its closer. I bet you though that itll turn out so packed, that getting runs in will be a p.i .a though. Also, I really hope they are VERY stringent when it comes to tech inspections. You all know as well as I do that theres ALOT of cars that are practicaly falling apart and the owners are dying to get em on the track. Either way though, it should quell the crowds at Moroso a little

I think if most people in Miami-Dade county had to chose between the sorry *** Marlins to get a new stadium or to get a race track, people wouldn't care to see the Marlins leave town.
I personally don't really like either, but I'll be in favor of a track closer than Moroso.
