Trunk Mount Water Injection Tank (FD RX7)
Please email us at info@sakebombgarage.com for more details on pricing!
Inspired by the "Euro Spec" rear wiper tanks from select international markets, our purpose-built water/alcohol injection tank for the FD3S aims to add a seamless water/meth injection solution to all FD's with the reliability and integrated design as Mazda would have designed. Beginning with a 3D scan of the OEM "Euro" Tank, we went to work to remove unnecessary features, refine the design and test, test, test until we were happy with the final product.
Testing and design work included countless designs revisions, CFD (computational fluid dynamics) modeling, extensive fitment verification, real world testing and the design of a deep anti-starvation sump to address potential starvation issues for the most rigorous track cars. We've maximized capacity and minimized starvation, so you can use the very last drop of water/meth before refilling. A whopping 2.1 gallons worth! All while hidden beneath the OEM rear plastics with only an OEM-style cap visible. We think the end result was worth the long design hours, and hope you feel the same way when installing this in your FD!
Features:
* One piece design to increase capacity and ease install
* Anti-Starvation Design with integrated sump to avoid fluid starvation
* Capacity over 2 Gallons (8.2Liters)
* 5mm thick HDPE which is methanol friendly
* 100% bolt in requiring zero modification
* OEM fit and finish
* Compatible with any water/meth injection kit
* Multiple bosses for level sensors and nozzle fitment
* OEM install hardware and SBG cap included
A little history and background on the "Euro" rear tank:
One of the philosophies we've always had as a company was to make the OEM systems and parts work better. In the case of our Euro Methanol Tank, we started with an OEM washer tank that was only found on select European and Canadian market cars. These cars received a larger washer tank, mounted in the rear hatch, behind the plastic panel. The reason for the larger tank was to feed three thirsty systems; the front washers, the rear washer AND the headlight washers (which US cars didn't get).
What Mazda failed to realize was that methanol injection was WAY cooler than headlight washers. The "Euro" tanks simply aren't readily available, and their two piece design is prone to leaking. The additional pumps are unnecessary and are potential leak points, and space just isn't optimized for capacity. They also lack a sump and are prone to fluid starvation in high G cornering. Fortunately all FDs have the necessary mounting points and provisions to support the larger tank, and is what we built our design around. This is truly an OEM solution, but race re-engineered by the team at SakeBomb Garage.
Wait. So why do I need Methanol Injection?
* More Boost! Methanol injection allows for more aggressive tuning as it acts as extra octane, which in turn prevents detonation. Meaning, you can up the boost while maintaining safe A/F ratios.
* Cooler Intake Temps. Removing heat is the name of the game in the rotary world. Methanol Injection is arguably the most efficient way to do that.
* Increased Intercooler Efficiency. Most intercoolers run at 50-60% efficiency, methanol injection makes your intercooler ULTRA efficient. Even smaller SMICs will show huge benefits coupled with methanol injection.
* Cleaner Internals. Methanol injection effectively steam cleans you internals and helps prevent dreaded carbon build up on your rotors.
