That's not that bad. Many Hewland sequential boxes are $30k+ and X-trac units are over $40K

Not to bash on HKS but I doubt they can take the abuse X-trac can or hewland.

Nice, but here's my qurestion. Why don't they ever use some decent tires, like Hoosiers? Is it just cause it's an American tire?

Some guys use Hoosiers and what not. There are a couple reasons they don't really use them though.
One being Advan/Yokohama, Dunlop, Toyo etc sponsor a lot of the events, Hoosiers etc are expensive here, they have run S tires for awhile so they like to compete with S tires to compare their times with others peoples times on S tires.

The guys that run in actual race series run hoosiers and the other full slick tires. The guys that are weekend time attack warriors like to run a tire that they can use on the street and the track although most of their cars are far from street legal.

I have asked the same question as you many times and I have yet to come up with a 100% logical reason. For the most part they seem to be settled in their ways of using S tires.

tires don't make you break **** if you aren't launching the car.

That car DESPERATELY needs more tire.

255/265, wtf. And not even an R or slick.

That makes the time all that much more impressive I suppose.

From what i know, HKS gearboxes are reworked hollingers, and i know that those gearboxes can take just about w/e you can throw at a hewland too.
