The N/A Rx-7 and the N/A 924 are about dead even, which would make the N/A 944 about dead even with later second gens. However, the N/A 924 and 944 are some of the most RELIABLE cars that Porsche has ever made, they werent the fastest, but the later 944s were said to rival the handling of a 911. The 924 Turbos were also known as being a excellent overall handling car.
That said, if you buy a used 80's turbocharged car, and expect it to need little if any work. Then you are the one who is ignorant, odds are it was abused and neglected. I buy non-turbocharged cars that need fifty things, does that one car tell me that every Toyota Corolla is unreliable?? No! It tells me that someone never took care of it, and probably abused it.
I know several people including myself that have owned these cars, I never had a turbo, I got out of German imports before I got that far. My father on the other hand currently owns a 944 turbo, and drives it EVERYWHERE. He bought his from the original owner, average mileage, and has its entire maintance history.
That said, I dont care who owns a 911, I myself would take one of ANY year in a heartbeat. Dont post ignorant things that have nothing to do with the OP you are trolling, nobody asked what your opion of the 944 was.
Overrated? Hardly, you obviously dont know much about automobiles,

I could easily keep posting these, none of them are overrated. Porsche is Porsche, there is a reason so many people like them. And your 16 years of automotive experience are obviously enough to tell us that every Porsche is overrated junk.
To OP, that silver FC does NOT have a 944 wing. 944 wings would touch the hatch all the way around.

You should try a 911 with a built TII motor. Stock was 170 flywheel horse (thank you Federal Government and your infinite wisdom for smog controls and 5mph bumpers). Now about 350 at the flywheel.

You ******' Moron.
To the OP, sorry I messed this up. I was trying to give my opinion on how it would look and just messed it from the get go. I'm not a troll, well because I'm not related to Loki.Rx7 who is true to his name sake.

dial8, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a Porsche. Don't discount every Porsche because of one bad car. I've had two '73 914s that were both basket cases when I bought them. I restored them and they were great fun! they go around corners like they are stuck to the pavement. No, they are not quick in the quater mile. But again, they could outrun almost anything being made in '73. And a 914-6 could even outrun a 911.
My present car is a '75 911. It has been great. I think it has far less problems than a 32 year old car should be allowed to have. Ditto the 914s. But all cars do break down once in awhile.

Rotary911, I don't mean to lump all Porsches and drivers together, but every single Porsche driver I met at track days, auto cross, and car meets has been a complete dick. My car was Junk, Porsche or not, but the attitude that goes with owning one around here combined with performance that isn't any better than any other sports car out there, leads me to believe that they are not all they're cracked up to be. I'm not a super driver. I can't get in any car and push it to its limits. But if I drive a 911, the get into an MR2 AW11 and the only difference I can tell is in the accel. its not that big a leap forwad in my book. Then again that was sarcasm, so I might as well just open the doors to be called ignorant again. Bottom line, I'll never own another one, and I'll never like them.
