Another Supra vs. RX-7 debate... well, where's fuel for the fire!

Supras are fat heavy pigs ~600 pounds heavier stock for stock curb weight.

 

Good to know facts but heres more facts.

Has more power stock, more reliable, can hold better value and pulled better numbers in ALL categories vs the FD.

Btw supra is the heaviest japanese sports car yet it pulls better figures?? lol

That i quote supras?? I already said i do, when the thread is supra related. Why would i mention a supra when supra wasnt even mentioned in the first place?

I said i love them and a fan, i didnt say im obsessed with them. I like ALOT of cars.

 

I work on supras and rx7`s , true that you can make 400hp with a supra with minor bolt ons , but in a car that heavy it wont do much good ,it pulls better numbers , but mainly because it has to ,because of its weight

dont get me wrong i love supras i think their one of the most over-engineerd cars out there , that can be made into monsters really quick , but a supra is a supra and an RX7 is an rx7 its unfair to judge like that
and dont forget the 2JZ isnt indestructable it too has it shares of troubles , and also WILL break if precautions are not taken

Better numbers meaning slalom. braking distance, lateral G's etc. Not just straight.

Yes i know both different cars, both driven to meet different needs but when people criticize supra as fat heavy pig, thats their only defense they can use because there is nothing else you can say bad about the car. So they fall back on weight, a measly 600lbs heavier than the FD. The supra is a touring/sports car, the heaviest japanese sports car and it pulled better figures than the FD which is an all out sports car, at 2800lbs. So before you (not you but generally speaking) call a supra "fat pig", first look at what it can do for what it is, then think about it. You're calling a car that can do better than what you have, an FD.


Yes it is, its the only production engine in an FD, sure you can go 20B but how much is that, what reputable shop will do this? Tune it? Attend to it when you are having problems? Good luck with all that, you're expenses will rack up faster than a rich man at las vegas.

Sorry but these are facts, not trying to talk down on our own cars but its reality, some people have a difficult time dealing with it.

 

Like i said before , supras ARE great cars , i have one in my shop that has 967WHP , yes they are impressive WHEN modified , in stock form I do not find them at all impressive , to be honest even an rx7 in stock form is not impressive to me

Yes there are plenty of cons. What-the-****-ever. Instead of telling everyone about them and how much it makes the car suck, why not spend the effort fixing the problems or at least preventing them.

You could:

add a straight through downpipe
add a 2-cycle OMP adapter
get cermet rotor housings
pre-mix and regularly do water treatment
do a coolant change

... and the "fat pig" thing was obviously a joke because I find this whole thing comical. However, "a measly 600 lbs"? THAT'S 1/5 OF THE WEIGHT OF A FD WITH TWO PEOPLE IN IT!!!

Im not saying YOUR FD like your fd outside of your house, im talking about "your FD" in genera, to the general publicl. If an MKIV supra can take it STOCK vs STOCK, you know damn well with mods on each side, it would come up with the same result.

I acknowledged the supra, if people get defensive off that, i guess that means they are intimidated by the car. They prob hate it for that reason cause maybe its better? Who the hell knows. People have their opinions.

And yes measly 600lbs, there are alot of cars out there now in that weight class, not like it was just supra, then all cars were under 3000lbs again. Like i said, its a touring/sports car, with a backseat and it put up hardcore sports car stats. AND the car was made over a decade ago.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I think I remember a thread where someone quoted their costs around 30K. FDs are awesome and Supras are awesome. To be honest I don't think there is another forum that 1QWIK7 could have posted these links without getting the third degree. By the way, I saw that a Supra was burning at the end of one of the videos. Do you have anymore information on what exactly happened? I couldn't figure out anything.

I have a question, not to sound like a smart ***, but has anyone seen a supra in a touge battle? It seems like the are all GREAT handling cars with 4-500rwp. Or cars that can turn very well. Supras I have not seen to turn very well at all unless they are stripped and ahve a really nice suspension setup. I have driven both and own a 7. Supras are more reliable, and can be faster. What car cant be fast or handle really well when you throw thousands into it???? I think the argument is retarded. They are both great sports cars, each created with different aspects in mind. I personally like my 7 more because it handles like a dream, and to get a nice supra they are retarded expensive. Lately, the 7 has increased in value. I think in the next few years the 7 will go up in value to where the supra is, so long as the following of 7's stays strong.

Cliffs notes: Quit being retarded, they are both nice cars with unique aspects!

 

I wasn't talking about this thread specifically, although you have made some negative insinuations about RX-7's in this one. Now, I'm not saying that the things you say aren't true. Some of the things you have said are proven facts, but the majority of your posts are negative and it gets old. That's all I'm saying.

 

I fully understand what you're saying and i already said in the past that it seems like i rag on the FD like i hate it. That is not the case.

I own one myself, why would i own a car i hate?

Sure some of my posts have a negative impact but thats how i am, i express what i feel, no matter what the situation is.
