Smile Front-bar Cam :) [VID]

I picked up this little video camera sensor ages ago - it's known as a helmet cam - for recording extreme sports etc.

Yesterday I decided I should test it out on the car, so I jammed it in my frontbar and recorded some footage hehe. I reckon it would be pretty mad on cruises, or on track.

I've put together a short clip testing it out - its about 10 meg.

(Best played with QuickTime )

What ya guys reckon? It's a slight fisheye lens so you get a wider angle of viewing heh. I had the mic under the bonnet while recording, so all u really hear is the clutch fan. When I go on track I reckon I'd stick another camera on the back seat so you can see out windscreen + driver movements.

i got the helmetcam from http://www.helmetcamera.com/ then it just plug into a dvcamera which has video input - or if you have a 12volt video recorder you could use that off the cars power

mounting lol... really crude :P i jammed it in the gap in the frontbar haha,

then I used gaffer tape to tape the wire to the chassis thru the engine bay

I reckon you could just use gaffer for such a small little cam- just get your passenger to keep an eye on the image hehe if it starts to come loose etc.
