I know how painstaking it is to draw reflections and gradients with pencil. Some serious time.

Anyways, what school are you looking at? I go to Art Center in Pasadena, CA. Starting my senior year in transportation (car) design.

If I can give some suggestion, think about the car in its 3d forms, instead of replicating something you visually see in 2d. Meaning, instead of drawing the reflections as you see them in a photograph, if you understand the shape of the vehicle, you can make your own reflections, cheat them, make them beyond-perfect, and thus more imaginary and artistic versus copying real life... Notice how beautiful studio shots of cars never have radon oak trees, your neighbors fence, or any of that crap? Its all reflections of perfectly placed white boards that are made to show off the form of the car in an absolutely perfect controlled way.

I don't mean to thread jack, but here is an example I did where I took a beautiful classic car and made it more perfect by designing my own reflections and mapping them onto the surface of the car.

Your detail is amazing, but some of your 3-d lines are off, the angle of the back of the rx-7 and the wing go to the wrong vanishing point, your wheels are a bit off on their angle as well.

I say you have great skill, just take more time getting the porportions right and the angles...then concentrate on your detail.

BTW my favorite part is how you captured the fender of the FC, how it isnt just rolled metal all around....like how is blends into the rear arch......its hard to explain but I bet you know what I am talking about.

As an artist I will say that it def is a good amateur drawing. Yes there are a few imperfections but in terms of the subject thumbs up!

(check your vanishing points from the rear to the front, that will help you with drawing at certain angles and degrees)

That drawing looks good!

One critique i have is too try and increase your contrast. There are obviously going to be spots around and under the car that are dark black and areas that are white. Your drawing rides the line between black and white. Really lay down some lead.

Also an architecture professor of mine would always tell me to draw faster and get the gesture on the paper. It made me more comfortable when I started taking my time.

That is a really great job. I'd really love to see how well you'd draw a picture with all three generations. I think you did an absolutely fantastic job on it. I've always admired peopel with such great artistic abilities.

Art Center Rocks!! Good drawing. Keep up the good work and the haters will stop hating. Make sure you've got your portfolio going, and if you can, check up on the programs at Art Center. It's really impacted, but it's worth it!
