3rd gen Photoshoot
#26
i just finished my first semester in photography, and being digital or film, they're all the same theory. Intensity * time = exposure. Intensity can be defined as aperture and time... shutter speed. The obvious. Then we go into line theory and rule of "1/3". This is basic photography elements. If you want to go somewhere and have them "praise" you, i think you've come to the wrong forum. I'm not a great photographer, and i'm only in my first semester. Yes, I process my own negatives, and enlarge my own film. Heck, i've down ISO 3200 film, and IRE film too (infrared). from can openers to Dektol-76, I've done it all. (35mm of course) in that semester. This doesn't mean i don't know how to use digital. In fact, digital cameras are the same exact way EXCEPT:
- optical center is different (unless you're shooting with a canon 5D or a Mark 1 N2/s)
- immediate results
- half stops instead of full stops (but they do have full stops, just takes 2 clicks instead of one)
-different "development" process.
Anyway, I don't like photoshop personally, and they're right, work on better composition. Don't take it as "you suck as a photographer" but take it as "amateur photographers helping each other".

what experience do you have as a professional photographer?
what experience do you have as a professional photographer?
1) You stated this thread to be "3rd Gen Photo Shoot," correct? ****, only one photo in here, and it looks like a damn carwash bay. The FD looks more like a Koi fish front end, krylon windshield wipers, and Rx-8 wheels. Sorry, but you're not even showcasing the car. Photoshoots usually consist of more than one pic, and you said this one was the final???? Where's the contrast to the photo or a point of focus(except the overbite on the car)?
2) You're a student in a photography school....Expect the critics to give their insight, after all, you did post it up here. Instead of the comments back and forth, just post up the rest of your pics or delete it...damn. No need to get all butt hurt.
There's a lot of **** on here people don't like. But hell, so long as the owner is happy, then good for him/her. That's what matters, right?
Since you'll probably tell me I'm not a pro(which I'm not) and tell me to post up some pics that I've take, I threw them in. I won't make excuses for not having my Nikon D50 with me and using my Kodak EasyShare CX7530, lol.
These aren't fancy, but they're mine...
Just take the comments and work them to your advantage. Sometimes photographers have to be careful in choosing their shoots, it is your career....I'm having fun just trying to learn all the settings on this damn D50, lol.
Oh, and for those who know OnlyOnThurs, here he is, so you can get your daily fix, lol:

If you go on my site, all of the cars on their were set up by me, except for the red car which was at a show. With this car, I wasn't able to set it up. He wanted me to take pictures of it at his shop, which had broken cars everywhere and wasn't a good place. I asked him if I could drive it across the street and he was hesitant, but let me. I know that the Rx-7 is the worst, but something has to be the worst. That's why I took it off, and as I repeat I'm not going't to post the whole photoshoot onto here, because people don't like the car in the first place.

What do you mean a point of focus? I set my f/step to keep the DOF so you could see all the details in the front. There's plenty of contrast.
And I DID delete the pic. It's no longer on my site. Maybe if you would have read then you would have saw that I wasn't posting more on here.

I was talking about your original pic here...I did read, I learned how to do that at a young age. Quit bunchin' up the panties and being so sensitive. You'll never make it as a professional being so damn sensitive. But hey, best of luck, it's your career. Apparantly you "didn't read my post" and take the advice about folks. As for point of focus, my apology, didn't realize that was your best. How about taking a lower angle shot? Maybe even a fisheye kind of effect. As for the contrast, sorry again, I was saying something simple and not sounding like a professional. I was talking about how plain the pic looks. Wow, a solid color dull FD next to a brick wall....Hmmmm...I dunno....A B&W shot probably would have looked better...
Make the car stand out or something, draw them into the pic.

Is this the same car that I see outside of the Walmart's parking lot beside of the 40/85 bypass and south elm Eugene st. If so, I am sorry but return it back to stock, because it is not the most pleasing thing to look at.

you are going to art school and you're being overly sensitive about criticism? thats not a good attitude. you did say photoshoot and theres only one picture. perhaps it was the one picture you were most proud of, but honestly, i dont think anyone means to hurt your feelings, you are getting a little ahead of yourself by trying to get praise for that picture.
it looks like anyone could have taken it with a point and shoot. i looked at the pictures on your site and they also look like you are just following a contrived recipe of taking pics from low and sharp angles, etc. there is more to those types of pictures than what you readily see at a glance. you also need to make the most of or take advantage of your light sources, which is usually the sun. if you don't your pictures turn out very flat and amateur such as that dull gray fd. it may look great in person but it looks like *** in that picture. as someone else stated, nothing really draws the viewer in, not the composition, not the lighting. people often make the mistake of trying to rely on the car itself to make its own focus. it is very difficult, even most car magazines don't have that good of pictures.
perhaps after some more experience you will be a better photographer. these aren't personal attacks from everyone, just constructive criticism.
