the F1 turbo era engines made 1200 to 1400 whp during qualifying only. Boost was decreased for the race making thew engines have 700-1000 whp and yes those things did 14-16,000 rpms. *drools thinking about it*

Lets remember that these motors are more newly developed with more r&d behind them than our older rotaries today. Wankels can still hold their own these days against this newr tech motors. Like in Speed GT/ST. Until they can win big races/championships in other types of motorsports like say 24 hour Lemans or IMSA which Mazda DOMINATED in the 80's or the old Mickey Thompson off road series. Big deal. Anybody can make horsepower, but who can win championships? Rotaries either get banned or penalized. nuff said.

I don't know, evo's are cleaning it up for the time attacks. course, that is just the fastest single lap, and not an actual endurance race, but still. also, evo's are very capable rally race cars, and have been for years.

Unless you've got money to spend for trannys that cost in excess of a few thousand dollars, differentials in the thousands, and engines in the tens of thousands. you wont be able to be called badass, its just called an "Ongoing Project"
