MAP and plus minus signs

I've a RTEK2.0 for the car and also a PocketLoggerZT. The ZT is a wideband from ZEITRONIX for those who don't know and the POCKETLOGGERZT is a Palm interface with the Zeitronix.

When viewing the ZT on the Palm, the MAP is shown with either a plus sign next to it or a minus sign.

My wish I may, wish I might, is for the RTEK2.0 someday incorporate the plus/minus sign on the Palm when displaying the MAP.

And while here, I thought I'd mention I bought a Palm M105 to complement the M515 I've been using. Oooops. Mistake. I guess I'm spoiled. The 105 is noticably slower. I think it's 8mb vs 16mb for the M515.

The M105's go for about 30 bucks on Ebay and the M515 for .....depends. Fifty to one hundred fifty depending on the bidding process and the new/used condition.

Also the M105 has a green dim screen at night that is a bit to DIM for me. I prefer the M515 bright screen at night.

Plus the M105 does not have a rechargable battery. Not too big a deal what with rechargable batterys being fairly cheap these days.

Well I wrote this whole long reply and I accidentally closed the browser tab.

I agree, there should be some consistency between the versions.

The decision to put the minus on the ZT MAP label actually comes from the Zt-2 unit. We just pass whatever it sends to the screen.

Both the Rtek and the ZT loggers show positive pressure in PSI and negative pressure in inHg.

Originally the Rtek logger did show vacuum as negative. I always thought showing inHG as negative was wrong because inHg is a measure of vacuum. But now that I look it up, I think I might be wrong. inHg is a measure of pressure and vacuum is negative pressure so the minus sign is correct.

Your wish will be granted.
