My car is leaning out under boost. As well as in vacuum if is on the way to boost.

I thought it might have been a fuel capacity issue, but if I accelerate slowly I can build and maintain boost. (plus its just a stock turbo w/ 550/720). I just got my boost gauge reinstalled, but all that had done is confirm that if I mash the pedal it will stutter and go lean.

I have already lowered the secondary staging point, wich haas had no effect.
Next I was planning to add fuel, but I only have a narrow band installed as of now. Plus the problem doesn't seem to be rpm based, sometimes it leans out near 3k, other times later.

could the boost sensor be to blame?

 

Might try to log the issue with a bunch of perameters selected (boost, AFR, TPS, RPM, Temps, Lead timing, Secondary staging, etc.) and post up a PDB file or an image of the log from PLviewer.

Are you sure it's not too rich? Are you running 550/720 injector setting?

 

I will run a log with those parameters tomorrow, (I never used more than 6 before because its a pain to look @ too many on the Palm)

I would have thought it was too rich... but its its clearly rich while in boost and it heads sharply in the other direction when the sputtering starts...although its well out of the range of my narrowband.

I have it set on the 550/720 setting. After sending my injectors to be cleaned, they came back 580/710. I've taken 5% out below the secondary staging point (3360) to compensate.

 

it could be your fuel pressure regulator.. i had the stock one go out on me, it made it run lean in boost and super rich in vacuum

 

check your TPS for proper operation and values when moving the throttle.

 

I too know someone who had this prob... totally forgot about it.

 

The FPR is an areomotive unit, and the fuel system has been converted to parallel. Fuel pressure is 38-39psi @ idle.

I did attempt to set the idle a few days ago using the Rtek procedure. We set the TPS to 20% like it said, but with the pedal to the floor it only goes to 74% also I had my buddy actuate the throttle directly and it still only went to about 80% (so its not a throttle cable issue).

I wan't really able finish because I think the is a small vac leak somewhere. Even with the BAC set to full close it wouldn't idle below 800. We adjusted the enrichment screw down a little and moved the bac to about 30% (this did not change the idle, just moved the adjustments for each device closer to "normal")

Oh yea, and another thing. I have the greddy TB elbow, does anyone know what sensor that thing is tapped for? cuz it sure aint the stock one. I had to get an adapter to screw my sensor into to fit the hole, and even then there was a vac leak, so I had to wrap the adapter in teflon tape. Since the bung on the greddy unit is raised (why?) the sensor is not in the path of incoming air, I can't imagine this is a good thing. Does anyone have a solution?

Edit: I just took some logs in 3rd gear, it seemed to fall on its face *** soon as I went from vac to boost.... I'll work on getting those up.

 

Ok, How do I get the logs off the palm?

I've hot synced numerous times, but it doesn't give me an option to save any log files, nor is there any option within the rtek menus pertaining to transferring files to the PC.

I have read the log veiwer instructions, but they just say "hotsync and look at the files" as if it were automatic or something.

I've tried that and there are no data logs in the "backup" folder.

 

Highly unlikely if you are hotsyncing.

I suggest using the find feature to search your C drive for "*.pdb" (no quotes)

 

As turbo2ltr said, use search on your c: drive for *.pdb files. usually in folder structure like (C:\palmone\user\backup)

I have the Greddy elbow and mine screwed right in... 1/4 NPT if I remember correctly. Might want to get a factory sensor, or check and see if you have one, or maybe someone drilled/tapped the Elbow?

 

The issue is NOT that I can't find the logs to view. The issue is that THEY DO NOT TRANSFER FROM THE PALM. I have searched my computer, the only .pdb files that show up are the log viewer and the original software. When looking at the hotsync log there is no Pocketlogger transfer. There is no option to sync the pocketlogger files in the hotsync manager, nor is that option present within the program on the palm...

Perhaps they did.. because I have the stock sensor and its no where close to the size of the hole in the TB adapter. It (the snesor) is about half the size of the hole. I have it in an adapter right now, I believe the adapter is 1/8th or 1/4 npt.

 

Can you view the logs on the palm? I was thinking there might be some settings to hotsync the RTEK files, but sounds like you already checked that out. I'll check when I get home today or tomorrow if I see anything that might keep hotsync from backing up the logs/maps...

Yea, I think your right, it is 1/8 npt, not 1/4.

 

Yea, I can view the logs on the palm no problem, its just really annoying trying to view more than 3 parameters at a time. If you could check to see if there is a Pocketlogger checkbox on your hotsync setup that would be helpful.

IF the stock air temp sensor is 1/4 then the adapter is probably 3/8 then because the hole his way too large for the stock sensor. The problem is the adapter keeps the sensor for being in the flow of air....actually considering how thick the bung is I don't see how the sensor would see much airflow even if it did fit the stock sensor.

Has anyone used an FD AIT or a fast reacting sensor that they all seem to swap to?

There is no "custom". The only options are "Settings" "Install" or "Exit".

If I go to "settings" then "applications" it shows the only thing set to "do nothing" is "memos" because it refused to sync the memos and it was holding up the whole process (this seems to be a somewhat common problem)

 

then the logs are on your PC. you just have to find them.

Go to start-> search and type in "RX7L" into the search box (no quotes) and search your whole C drive.

 

Nothing comes up.
If I search ".pdb" I get a few files, but none of them are logs.

 

You have to use the "*" wild card... try one more time "*.pdb" if you use *.* then it will show every file on your pc.

 

Finally! (apparently that "*" wild card function only works in advanced search....good to know...)

Anyways, I'll post the most recent 2 logs....although I know I logged more parameters than this...whatever, its a start I guess.

I found out how to display all the parameters in a chart...not sure why they dont show up on the graph

 

I will check them out when I get home, but you can add data to the graph, just right click on the graph and add parameter or somthing like that... I think...
