thinking of going auto trans
The trans comes with 2.4 first gear and for for 550$ I can get a 2.8 first gear. Is this worth the money? Convertor is a 5000/7000 stall. Rear end gear is 4.11. 1/4 mile track only car. 2850lbs FC. Car went 10.5 at 137mph on a stock FC trans.
Advice or opinions?
thanks

Mike Lowe runs 7's not 9's, that being said, that same outlaw white 1st use to be a street car about 7 years ago, and he did run a glide that ran pretty damm good.
I'm guessing your wanting a auto to keep from missing gears eh
why not just buy a used jerico 4 speed ? those can be had for as litttle as 2k

I do miss a few shifts at times. Going to try another low maileage trans this week.
I think the auto would be easier on the stock rear diff and axles. If I went with a aftermarket standard trans then the rear end would also have to be upgraded.
So many options.
My other option was a tremic T5 and install a 8.8 rearend. But not sure the trans will take repeated high rpm launch.

have you noticed you miss gears more now that you have a bridge port
that requires you to up the RPM range. a S5 transmission shifts better at higher RPMs then the S4...I had 3 s4 transmissions and now been using a low mile Jspec Series 5 and my engagement is much better at 8K shifts....I would look into a doug-nash that can be driven on the street too...
