Stock FD with GT35 goes 10.6 @ 130mph

Alot of people have been asking us to take this car to track already and today we finally got a chance to see how fast a GT35R will go in a stock FD.
This car made 501hp at 21~22psi with E85.

We knew we were going to get kicked out because this is a complete street car and doesn't have a cage or other necessary safety equipment.

We assumed we would get one run in then get a warning and then make a second killer pass and go home. This way my brother could get his butterflies out on the first pass and then put it on kill for the last one.

Well that didn't go as planned! We were kicked out after the first pass!!!!

They also didn't display the time on the scoreboard or want to give us a time slip..
I knew once i saw his 1.49 60ft time posted that he was in trouble.

Sucks as we know the car could definitely run a better number.

The car makes close to 15lbs of boost on the 2step but on this run he didn't hold it long enough and only made 5lbs.

He also wanted to make sure he didn't miss any gears so he granny shifted 1/2 and 2/3 but powershifted 3/4. The datalog show's .6 tenth's of a second wasted from the 1/2 and 2/3 combined. Plus the sun wasn't being to friendly either.

I honestly feel that if he would've powershifted all gears, left with 15lbs of boost, and ran it back later in the evening with much cooler air, He would've gone a 10.30

But we never got another chance...

We might take it to a track rental later this month at ATCO.
There much more forgiving there about track rules.. lol..

I put a video up on youtube.

Enjoy...

Congrats Enzo and everyone else involved!
I say 10.30's is very possible.
I ran 10.20's with 525whp way back in the last century!

Congrats Enzo and Anthony!!! For those who don't know the car they are referring to is "TurboR1" on the forum and this was his first time at the track! Can't ask for anything better than that. It's pretty amazing what a bone stock mazda block can do in the right combination and the right tuner. Congrats guys!

Anthony
PS - Ant, I have an extra "WHO'S YOUR DADDY" bumper sticker, you deserve it

I seen you guys last night..That car ran great..
If you can get the car to hook a little better say 1.35 60ft you should run 9.9..
Nice run...
....I was wondering why you left after one run.

congrats anthony and enzo, I'm really excited for you guys, that car is working great. 10.6 in its full daily driven trim. same fuel, and plugs that it drives arround on daily, just swap tires and run 10.6 is incredible.

I went easy I wanted to feel how the track hooks before I want all out.. I think I have a 1.38 in me.

So I guess i'll make the announcement here now for my new goal since my first was accomplished easily on accident. hehe.

Plan is to go 9.99 with a GT35R on a completely street driven and stock drivetrain fd. Going to start breaking parts I know.

Going to free up another 75hp and hopefully put down 575. ALL with the GT35R.

I want the history books to label me the "GT35R KING"

And that you will be !

I have a friend who ran many 10.30's with a 60-1 so I say you can do it with the 35R.
