Scraping The Wall While Trying To Go 9s
OKAY GUYS MY CAR HAS ALSO BEEN 10.04 LIKE ERNIE'S
BUT NEVER MADE INTO 9'S
HERE ARE SOME PICS
REASONS I THINK THAT THIS MiGHT OF HAPPEND
i WAS TOO LAZY TO PUT ON MY SKINIES UP FRONT
2ND the track did not have good traction,best 60ft of the night was a 1.60 @ 10.60
3rd i think its time to swap to a smaller turbo, the experience am having with my gt42 none ball bearing is that between shifts my rpms drop alot, when 33psi boost comes in it makes the car very agressive.
i dont wanna be shifting real fast to hurt the tranny so am taking it easy on the tranny.
i think am just going to go with a nice 67mm with a .84 a/r.
here are some pics guys

What flywheel are you using? With the GT42R, you can beat through the gears without the front end dropping. How much tire pressure are you running ? Thought you had a jerico or gforce? What gear did you smack the wall?

am using a chromoly fly wheel
in the rear et streets are at 13 psi
i did try out the g force clutchless 4 speed
3 and 4 th gears where a bit long I was go at the 1320 ft in 4th gear only at 6200rpms
i put in the stock tranny back
just wanted the car to stay street
oh I actualy broke the diff housing with the g-force shifting to 2nd gear
i guess sketcher is right diff flex
after a week or so I saw i had the stock helical in there
so i guess i went 10.04 on stock diff stock tranny
forgot to mention the reason for breaking that diff was a bog down launch and then wheel spin in 1st gear the into second it broke it
the g-force is forsale will fit right into you fd
i put an fd bell housing with a hydraulic release bearing
let me know what you guys think on a 76mm

Will work for horsepower
The et streets are bias ply and the street tires are radial it causes the car to search left and right and can get dangerous at speed!
Sorry to answer for you but!

I personally think that using the stock heavy flywheel is a bandaid fix to a different problem. The stock heavy flywheel will be easier to work with but kinda like putting heavier rims to slow down the rotational acceleration of the wheels, and cause more traction. (I think that made sense).

The ones that know what it takes to run quick and most are even using heavier than stock with some setups. In my opinion the stock FD flywheel is borderline weight wise. BTW it's not only the weight of the flywheel that matters but the entire rotating assembly including the clutch etc. Also where the weight is located makes a huge difference.

I use stock flywheels on both my race cars and they seem to run fine.Even my all motor rx7 has the 40lbs flywheel running consistent low 10 high 9s on 1/4 mile.
Any one see the custom plenum on arubas FD in that picture.Looks like a single 80mm TB.Nice
Sorry about your car.

people mention the gt42 hitting hard, any way to make a larger tank on the intake manifold to smooth out the 'hit'? Its hard to compare a straight six to a rotary but thats what the local supra guys do to smooth out the 'hit' and not shock the tires off of it. Sorry bout your loss btw.

A heavy flywheel makes it harder to hook the tire..it basically has more stored energy when the clutch is applied and can spin the tires easier.... i also ran a stock flywheel before a ran a multiplate setup...that is.. when my junk was still running

I had the same GT42 and if that thing fell off boost it would hit way too hard coming back in. If the car kept the momentum it was fine and easy to drive. Once I had a hard time getting into 3rd and fell off boost, when I hit 4th and got back on it, when the boost came in it was pulling hard to one side, really hard. I ran better times with a 500HP car with a now 70mm turbo than I did with the larger GT42 but I choose to switch rather than work things out. The skinnies made a huge difference. Ernie and Crispeed kept telling me how much the skinnies would help and I finally got them, wish I would have gotten them sooner.
Since the car was easier to drive, I feel like I actually have time to pay attention to things going down the track, I only run 10.60's and it feels like slow motion compared to when the Gt42 would hit. Keep in mind this was a non ball bearing, 76mm, 1.01 back on a smaller streetported motor not the more common ball bearing 74mm, 1.15 back which is a better setup IMO.

Mine hooked better with the stock flywheel. Keeping your lightened flywheel is not a option, swap it out.
Those wheels are too nice. But don't get them to solve your traction/suspension problem.

This is for Ari,old video of me and ari racing each other in pomona.I am using the stock heavy flywheel on this video stock70's suspension non adjustable and 8x26 in slick with a full exhaust and front mount intercooler, T-72 turbo on a streetport .I was using my 2 step to stop the engine and boost around 7k and was consistently doing low 1.3 to high 1.2 60ft .I am still using the same setup in chassis right now but twice the power from that video now days.Good old days of racing.
