Question reg Clearancing and Balancing rotating assembly
Hello all,
Like my title says, i am looking for more information into clearancing and balancing my rotating assembly on my next build. I have 1 C weight rotor, and 1 B weight rotor is in the mail (or the other way around
). My guestimated rwhp goals are in the ball park of about 500-550. From what i have found out, clearancing is not needed until you pass around 630 or so rwhp. This is due to e-shaft flexing. As of now, i dont have any plans to go to that hp level, although, one never knows.
Also, what are your thoughts on this process? I prefer only first hand comments on this. Please lets keep the hearsay down to a minimum. I am looking for comments from individuals who have done this kind of work before on their engines.
So with that short tidbit said, i was wondering who everyone uses for these two procedures. If you could kindly list who does which procedure and a ball park of price, and what kind of turn around im expecting. If you dont know a given piece of information, thats okay. please put the information you do have down.
Thanks.

I can feel the difference in an engine that's been properly balanced and one that's just built with rotors that are in spec per the weight stamp. Clearancing is fairly easy to do for any good machinist. But balancing needs to be done by someone that knows how to balance a rotary and has the correct bob weights to do it.

Since you have to send out all your rotating assembly you might as well send the rest and have them clearence the motor. Cost a tad more but you know it will be right.

Just spoke to Roger. Going to send my parts to him next week. He informed me that his ship moved down the block, with a new address.
