Ken is a funny dude...
"There was just no way that I could have overcome the 7.189 of Brent. I just backed out at the end when he literally went flying by me as though I was going backwards. How did he go that fast? Brent told me at the end of the run while we were rolling up our parachutes that he "sprayed it" That meaning nitrous."
"Here is what I am going to go the the World Finals with. Something new, stay tuned. NO PAIN - NO GAIN" www.kenscheepers.com

this is a good chance for Abel to get another wally since its only a 3 car field.... It would be lovely to see him run down Titan and get the win but we all know this is a long shot because Titan's game is on high... i love drag racing, theres so many variables to determine the outcome of a race... guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow
ps. since im a betting man, i'll put $20 on Flaco

Wtf!!!!
sweet jesus!!!! Abel just lost to Manny in the first round of eliminations.... This could have been a chance for a hometown runner up finish.. drag racing sucks ***, im gonna drink a beer & finish cleaning the interior of my rx3...
(W) Manny Cruz ('02Solara) 0.168 8.707 130.37
(L) Abel Ibarra ('04 RX-8) 0.522 16.427 62.84

Ken Wins!!!!
boy this sport is amazing & so unpredictable...
W/L Driver RT ET Speed
(W) Ken Scheepers ('05 RX8) 0.055 18.958 39.61
(L) Brent Rau ('99 Eclipse) 0.108 19.527 39.66
Our first final of the day - Rau has clinched the championship...
They both are broke at the same moment and start coasting to the line! The crowd is going nuts, both cars have lost power and after a long wait Scheepers Nuclear Banana coasts to a victory in Modified. WOW! Ken Scheepers' MOV: 0.6221 seconds (approximately 36 feet).

Whats next????
well i think NHRA days are numbered, low crowds & low competitiors may bring the end to this scantioning body.... I just listened to an interview with Brad, the driver of the Titan scion and they're talking about running only a few races next year... He said that its getting frustrating having no competition in the class and i really dont blame them because NHRA has become a joke... sad to see it end like this, but i think they (NHRA) are the ones that did it to themselves...

It was a lot better in the beginning before the days of the big budget companies sending a message that factory sponsership trumps talent. Then there were local talent and some out of town cars but it brought out the croweds. Now locally we are having fun trying to beat up some muscle cars, turbos are the great equalizers! There are alot of old school guys going turbo inted of noooozz! Hope something changes. Its great when the guy in the tower says its 80 cubic inches of bad *** car!

Brad just about sums it up in this interview from his opinion of the NHRA Sport Compact series and I know for a fact that a lot of racers and fans alike would be in agreement with him.
It's nice to see the top player in the sport not holding back and speaking the truth.

Congrats to Ken!!
There are many changes planned for the future of sport compact drag racing. Hopefully they wil have a positive impact on the sport.
As Brad said Diesel fuel is expensive!! The main reason why we did not tow our car out was diesel fuel alone would have been about $7500 round trip. Even if you win you can't cover the expenses.
