Chrome = heat, you lose the ablity to shed heat, and heat is the #1 enemy on ign. systems. FWIW, I have cruised with the Godzilla car a few times, and that car made people run for cover atleast 2 different times , LOL that car could smoke the @ 80 MPH on the freeway....

Crispeed......we need you to open a shop here in Colorado! The only real Rotary shop here in Colorado is great on stock parts but not really into the high horsepower applications!

Anyway...Crispeed...what plugs would you recommend for leading?

This is also what probably lead to it catching fire like that I guess.

Next....he is sending me a wiring diagram to hook up 2 step.....He said I shouldn't have it just to clutch like I have it now....He's probably going to say to hook to switch.

Last....is he said Im using the wrong spark plugs. I'm using B10EGV's for leading and the stock 9's for trailing. Apparently the "V" in the model number is the problem. He said those plugs have a tall electrode and is known to preignite the combustion chamber when the plug gets hot. If I go to shallow, it will blow out. He recommended going back to the stock 9's if I install my Methanol Kit and I should be fine.....This worrys me since everyone says stock 9's are only good to 400hp. What I really need is a BUR10EQ but I guess they don't make those. What plugs should I use?
Check the wire loops under the little black cap on the sid of the scil box. if you didnt cut any wires the that box is limiting like a 8 cyl.

When using a spark plug that has a special electrode design you loose the ability to disipate the heat from that electrode between firrings which can cause pre-detonation due to extensive heat build up at the plug. For your plug gap is concerned it goes as follows the more your dynamic pressure is the closer your gap will be. The harder it is to light your fuel the closer your gap will be. As far as a stock plug being rated to 400 hp... I personaly never seen a sparkplug that was rated at hp.

Well now I'm not worried about using the B10EGV plugs since I found out that cewrx7r1 recommends them. His tuning document (you can PM him to buy it for $40 or so) has a section about spark plugs and it says they should be gapped to .25 ". I called NGK today and their tech support said they come gapped at .65" which is incorrect. They looked like they come gapped already to .25"........Does anyone run these plugs? Just wondering if anyone had some experience with them.

you the man

ooooorrrr you could just put a switch on the dash that bypasses the 2-step going through the clutch switch

a question that was asked awhile back and that was never answered. why is the msd 6al prefered over the digital6 for drag racing? is it cause the 6al builds boost better off the line because its analog?

I've "heard" that the tii coils and na coils are the same but for the price, i would just buy some tii coils. They can be had dirt cheap ($10-$15).

Cut the two wires to your stock leading coil. The black/red wire is (+) and the yellow/blue wire is (-)

the msd black wire connects to the tii coil side (negative terminal).
The msd white wire connects to the ignitor side yellow/blue.
The msd orange wire connects to the tii coil (positive terminal).
The msd red wire connects to the ignitor side black/red.

Ground the big black msd wire.
Hook the big red msd wire, through a 10 amp fuse, to the battery. It doesn't have to be a switched power source.

2 step

Buy the msd 2 step (8739 model number)

buy two normally closed 5 pin relays (you can pick them up at your local autozone or the junkyard ) don't buy the pilot brand, those are normally open relays.

Buy a variety of msd pills. I can't suggest to you what works because the 2 step works different on everyones setups. I'll talk about this in a minoot.

The plug wire that's coming out of the two step box, plug that into the side of the msd 6al.

Black wire coming out of the 2 step box, ground that to the chassis.

Red wire coming out of the 2 step box, that go's to whichever switch you'll be using. 12 v to that red wire will active the two step. My went straight to my stock clutch switch (i would recommend you wire this into your horn button). Activating the 2 step everytime you push the clutch in doesn't work to well when you're banging through gears

Next, you'll want to use one normally closed 5 pin relay for each trailing coil.

Trigger those relays to shut off your trailing coils with the same switch your using to activate the 2 step.

Coil wires: You can splice into either the positive or negative, either one will cut power to the coils.

I'm bad at wiring relays so i'm not going to even bother explaining how. Just wire them to turn off the trailing coils

Now, the pills......... You'll need to use two pills. One is your normal rev limiter. I used a 8,200 rpm pill for my rev limiter in module 2 . Make sure your pfc rev limiter setting is higher than the rev limiter pill you're using. Anyhow, i used a 3,000 rpm pill in module one and only got 3-5 psi. I wasn't happy until i rattled some teeth, so i tossed in a 8,000 rpm pill in module one. That did the trick

There you go, hope i didn't leave anything out. Can't wait to hook it up on my new rx7 !!!

Thanks crispeed for the help.

Using 2 Step w/o MSD 6AL

Is it possible to send an rpm signal to the MSD 2 step without the 6AL. I have Jacobs, which I do not want to change..

which Jacobs model? The FC2000 has the RPM pill plug-in, in that case you can use the MSD 2-step module to switch between the two RPM pills.

I know i'm reviving an old thread... But why do you want to cut power to your trailing coils when the 2 step is engaged? Thanks...

The 2 step works on the leading coil only so you have to disable the trailing coils at the same time
