Drag day...

Well, last thursday I decided to goto the drag strip. I had a bad feeling about it all day, but I decided to go anyways. So, a friend rode up with me and I mentioned that if I were to break something, it would be on the drivetrain (either rear end, axle, driveshaft...etc)

So, the first 2 passes were alright and everything worked. On the third pass, I got the rpms up to 6k, then tried to launch when I heard a loud bang. There was fluid on the ground and all over the diff., but I don't know for sure what it is because I haven't had time to get a closer look at it, but it's either the rear end, a axle, a U-joint, or the driveshaft.

If you want to see the video, a friend of mine posted it on youtube.

The quality is crappy, but oh well.

Cracked diff housing would be my guess if there is fluid everywhere.

Sounded like it was wheel hopping on the burn out what tires and drive train is on the car?
With the right tires and braces 6,000 shouldnt brake thing like that!

Nitto 555R drag radials with stock drivetrain and wheels. The tires were warmed up already from the past runs. Track temperature for that day was hell....125 degrees F

I've got toe links and trailing arms to put on but never had a chance to yet. Well, looks like I'll be doing almost the entire drivetrain at once. Oh yeah, I have to install differential mounts as well and I was waiting to blow this one before doing that lol.

I'm gonna get under the car soon to figure out what I need to order.

Just a peice of advise: Go with the diff brace, trannie brace, stiff motor mounts, diff bushings, and a t11 diff, toe links and traling arms are ok but not the answer.

Nittos are ok for the street but the et street 10.5x26x16 on stock wheels are much safer. I run the above on stock suspension and get 1.52 60 times on stock axles.
I run the nitto nto1's 275x18x35 on the street but at the track they wheel hop reeeeaaal bad.
But if your dead set on running drag radials learn to slip the clutch and save the shock on the diff and axles!

Best of luck.
