I know not rotary but it would be great to see some forum members there showing support for import Drag Racing. This is Mazda's first time at the PRI Show and it has been a long time since any major manufacturer has displayed an import drag car.

What are the dates for the PR event? Are you the only one going from the US?
edit: I just saw a pic of Rocky & George from PAC Performance in Australia, did you meet them? Its cool that they came all the way here to visit the show, they just need to visit an event to see how we do it

I think those are the same rotors from last year's PRI, they're made by E&J machine shop in FL but dunno if they've been tested yet..

It was very nice to finally meet Rocky and George in person. Also Marco(Magnus) and Brent Rau were there keeping us entertained.
I could not make it to PRI because we were buisy trying to locate a new turbo.
The aluminum rotor is in it's final stage of development and the final product should be ready for testing in a couple of weeks. I'll keep you informed.

Dee,
With Chevrolet Axing the Camaro in response to floundering sales of the flagship Corvette I'm wondering if Mazda might run into the same situation. How does MNAO feel about their flagship marketing tool being a RWD Mazda 3 Drag car and not a RX8? It seems (to me anyway) it's somewhat counter to Mazda's Rx8 RWD Sports car image.
Granted, the hot hatches and sports sedans are popular right now, shouldn't Mazda be trying to drum up enthusiasm for the Rx8 with it's track record of lack luster performance?
Thanks,
Mike

Both George and Rocky from PAC were hanging out at CFT all weekend and were at the track all sunday for the race. I was there working on a customer's car that blew three turbos this weekend and we were there till 4am in the morning getting the turbo back together to race on sunday at OSW. Thank god CFT came through with a replacement.

F1 I cannot speak for mazda but I do know that mazda is more interested in research and development in their engine platforms and less in the cars they are in or there configuration as you can tell from how much they are involved with open wheel racing that look nothing like the cars their engines come from.
Their current hot turbocharged pocket rocket that makes about 270hp from the factory happens to be the Mazdaspeed 3 so I can assume this is why they are interested in doing research and development with this particular engine. The three is priced cheap and is being rated as the best bang for the buck wich is what people want right now.
Mazda does run a RX8 in my class with ken scheepers so they are still working with the RX8 and the rotary powerplant. But the turbo 4cyl is gaining in popularity and is set to go into many road race applications in addition to my drag car.
F1 I hope this answered your questions.
Also at the PRI show i was told by many chevy people that the new camaro is def on its way very soon. I did run into the PAC guys and they met with Russ and I to demo the PCS dash logger could potentially be carrying this product for the aus customers in the future. Great guys and I enjoyed meeting them.
