Hey guys, since I have seemed to break everything including the axle upgrade from driveshaft shop, I had them custom fab a whole new setup for the FD!* It includes everything level 5 33 spline, you name it, its all replaced.* Price is $1900, but worth it imo

Why dont' you just buy a stronger rearend? How much have you invested in all these axles so far? You could have put a Ford 9" in your car for about 2000-2500 bucks and be done with breaking axles.

^ If he put in a solid rear or any other rear for that matter, then he will not be legal for some classes... These cars are built around a specific set of rules for that specific class, so any changes that's not in the rule book automatically makes the car illegal in that class..

^^ As stated, Its easy just to put a 9" rear in, but that would bump me out of the street class.

So did they change the size/spline count on the stubs that go into the diff? That would also require a different spider gear setup for the diff. I hope the material type was upgraded. If not then the weak link is still there. The outer hub is basically the porsche setup so that's a plus although most of the cars I know pulling 1.3 60ft's with IRS don't really break the factory outer stuff but mainly the inner.

No thats the same. They asked me if I wanted that and I said no, because of the extra work involved on my end.

Do they do just uprated inner stubs to fit the standard axles ?, as I have just bought some 300mm axles already

That extra work can make the difference between breaking on every pass. Is much less work to change/upgrade a weak link in the beginning than to be continously swapping out weak parts.
Are the inner stub/cv made out of 300m?

The inner is a standard spline/style but uses a 300m material. The shafts are a larger spline also i think he said 35-36 spline and the outters are a porsche type.

For the serious dragracer then the easiest way to upgrade the inners would be with a spool. For the rest that use the stock type housing/LSD etc. the stock size would have to surfice.

I've got a set coming to me as well with billet ford inners going into a strange spool... hehe...
