wait, r u comparing this guy and us, cuz we aint, we just did a good run and we post them here so u should look at things from diferent view our car weighs more than urs did our weighs 2400lbs without the driver and we were able to get better times than u did us on a low budget holley carburator on c16, stock tranny suspension n rear end.(not a solid 8.8) so u r not one to talk and compare by the way we dont care bout how complete the car is what counts is the weight of the car..

I was trying to validate my comment to REDRUM7KILR about you taking the record. Records only hold to their classes. Since you and Ari are in different classes, you didn't take his record.

Hi there... What a small world, I've been watching time machines videos on youtube.com for the past few months. 9.02 is awqesome, especially for a 26x8.5, I usually run a 26x10.
I did a test pass that someone taped from the stands at the begining of '05, it was 9.15@152 on a 4sp H-pattern g-force and et streets. I normally run the mazda box (with stock internals for now) during competition, so I don't really consider that my record time.
The best ET for the car was at NHRA Pomona 2003 (modified class), I ran 9.08@155 in qualifing, I bogged at the launch and only pulled 1.52 60'. I think that with a good 60, the car would have run 8.80's or high 70's, but it never did. I never dipped into the 8's.
My target is 8.99 on gas using a complete Mazda drivetrain, I don't know if I'll ever get there, but it sure would be cool.
Good luck with your 2nd gen and congrats on the great performance on only 8.5" tires

This season I'll try to run the Nopi turbo street class, I think I can be competitive there. I might make an NHRA event in the SRW class, but I don't think I can hang with the 9.0 subaru..., especially with the new weight requirements.
This season I'll be running a Mazda box in competition, I might use the 4sp g-force in testing because it's much stronger. I need to find a new solution to my Mazda trans for this season, when I was runing last, I had to rebuild it after every race...

I'll check it out. Last time I spoke with him, he wasn't sure when they'll have time to mess with the rotary, they were up to their neck in a new Honda box they just released...

what about autos? guys in australia are using the mazda 3speed jatco autos and rebuilding them alot stronger to run high 8's... these autos have all custom internals, trans brake & high stall converter to get a 2800lb car with 28x9 into the high 8's....some cars are reporting a more consistant 60ft and & 1/2 drop in Et's...any comments? here a c/p the mail i got from Keas transmissions down in Oz about there jatcos...
Aaron,
Baseline model we offer is a 350kW (470hp) Transbrake model. From there you can option up better internals.
Core availability is an issue over here (the Rotary Model has a unique Valve Body and Servo/Piston set) so if your wanting parts then I will need your Valve Body and Intermediate Servo/Piston set for reworking.
Your basically dealing with a C4 that is already 98% rollerised, requires minimal Lubrication modifications and interchanges parts with 90% of all JATCO 3N71B and 4N71B models. We offer tech Sheets for Trade Customers showing our modifications during rebuilding.
Torque Converters
Choice of Hi Stall will greatly depend on Engine Porting/Turbo specs and desired results.
Generally Speaking:
Smallish Turbo and a mild Port= Reworked JATCO 9"
GT35-40 to GT42R with extend Ports- JATCO 7.5"
Larger Turbo and/or Bridge/Peripheral Port- Toyota 7". Highly recomend GAS to stop start line delays during spooling.
Prices in AUS $ (x 0.79 to convert to US$)
2nd Hand JATCO R3A $200.00
350kW Transbrake 3 Speed JATCO R3A $2,200.00
Options
Lift Rating to 540hp- VASCO Plus Billet Input Shaft $300.00
Lift Rating to 600hp- VASCO Plus Billet Input Shaft $300.00, Chrome Moly Nitrided 4 Pinion Forward Planetary Set $300.00, Thick Wall Cast Alloy Pan $220.00
Parts
Transbrake Valve Body Assembly $700.00
Billet Servo Piston $70.00
VASCO Plus Billet Input Shaft $300.00
Chrome Moly Nitrided 4 Pinion Forward Planetary Set $300.00
Thick Wall Cast Alloy Pan $220.00
Torque Converters
JATCO 9" $800.00
GM 8" $1,500.00
JATCO 7.5" $1,200.00

I've been saying lets use a auto for competition for while now
specially for those wanting to run in the Nopi and NHRA street class
The ESX Subaru runs a australia hybrid automatic transmission
and has run 9.00 in the sport rwd class
How the hell are we going to compete with that?
if Ari could run 9.2-9.4 with a 5 speed at SRWD weight
then in a Auto I'm sure he could match subi girls times

Hey Robert, it's been a long while...
I hope to get to travel a little this year, I'm not sure yet. Maybe we can meet up sometime, it'll be good to run again, like old times!!!

these days it seems that the Hondas really set the pace. It's amazing!!! A FWD 4cyl semi-street car running faster than 9.5-9.6
Awesome performance!!!
My plan is to get out there and try to help carry the flag for the rotaries... we'll see what happens, things don't always go according to the plan
