Adding Meth kit to my FD....got some ?'s
First of all.....My car makes about 500hp on 114 Octane Leaded. Car feels great but sick of replacing O2 sensors for my wideband and paying for $7 a gallon gas. When I'm on pump gas I'm only running 14lbs and it sucks that it's much slower. So I was told adding a Meth kit would fix my problems.
First of all, does anyone know if their is anything bad about running Denatured Alcohol instead of Meth? I was told it will do the same thing except non-corosive and much cheaper.
Second....what size Nozel would I need and at how much PSI....I was told my a local shop they though I would need a 375 Nozel at 200psi with a 150psi pump. They did tell me they have no idea about Rotarys so that may be wrong. That's why I'm on here asking you guys that know!
Anything else I should ask or know before I buy anything? Thanks again!

One more thing.....I was told you should be able to have the Datalogit / PFC tell the Meth kit when to come on. Anybody know how to do this? And where should I have it come on at? I was thinking maybe 12lbs of boost?

Good luck, I'm going to run meth injection on my RX7 as well.
Has anyone really pushed the envelope on the injection ? Like, sprayed the house down shooting for big power ?

Ha....I used to run the 2 step off the Datalogit but the damn thing likes to freeze and I have to short it out to work again....I finally gave up on it and launch off of rev limiter! I've never heard of a 2 step off of Power FC by itself......
Anyways.....hopefully someone here has experience with either of these!

as just posted above, the Board started a section specifically to cover water and alcohol last year. i am a mod on that section.
since water and/or alcohol are generally used the section is titled Auxiliary Injection (AI) to cover the mix. both injectants work well and the section is agnostic as to injectant choice.
MichaelB145 makes the case for AI.
there's nothing wrong w racegas.... other than it is impractical to run it on the street.
so you do your dyno/track thing and make a big number and then turn down the boost on the street. not that we are street racers 24/7 but how much fun is that?
you CAN have it all w AI. max boost 24/7.
i made 364 ft pounds of torque at 5565 rpm at 16 psi w a knock reading on my PFC/DL of 1 on 93 octane and meth. (i am in the process of tuning out and am correcting a backpressure situation).
my EGT was mid 1100s F pre turbo.
as to jet size.... there is a specific thread in the AI section on sizing for rotaries. since rotaries need more air and fuel to make a specific hp than piston engines, the VE is less, you need a bit more jet than a piston engine to make the same hp....
i run 850/1600s, am shooting for 600 rwhp and run 1200 CC/Minute of jetting in the form of two M10 (10 refers to gallons per hour) 10 gph = 630 CC/Min.
so my peak delivery is around 1200 CC. Meth allows you to cut back on your base fuel... this takes some stress out of your fuel system.... allows you to run your injectors 10 to 20% less duty cycle. you will want to run two M10s.
as to turning them on... the PFC won't do that. you buy a system that you adjust to where you want to introduce the alcohol and then log it. you will see from your AFR strip chart where the meth enters and then can adjust it where you wish. my point is currently around 8 psi...
i buy meth in milwaukee for 2.99 a gallon. find a dirt track and ask around and you will find inexpensive meth. we have a thread.... where to buy it...
i strongly suggest you visit the Turbobuick.com site and go to a subsection:
Alcohol, nitrous and propane
over 200 pages of threads, mostly tuning related. they have a huge "where to buy it section " also.
meth is magic for the rotary.
good luck,

Thanks for posting on here! I can't believe I didn't know about this section of the forum! I even did a search and didn't see any of those threads you have sticky'ed. I will be honest with you....the more I learn about Aux injection the more I realized there is a lot more to it then buying a kit and tuning it!
So what do you think of using Denatured Alcohol instead of a Meth/Water combo?
Also, I'm at 5280ft....Would I need bigger or Smaller jets to compensate for the lack of air?

go to the buick forum and search denatured alcohol.... there are 3 types of alcohol and they all are pretty similar for our purposes.
as to your altitude, it just depends on what boost your turbo can make. it is the oxygen molecules IN your engine after the turbo's compression that sets the fuel requirements. 20 psi in colorado and 20 psi in wisconsin at the same temp are the same w re to fuel.
