Here's his car on the dyno with less horsepower. For those who haven't heard a rotary with a automatic.

That car sounds like its running a Rx2 jatco 3speed with billet valvebody, servos and other tricked out internals... Here's a quick run down on a Keas Jatco

Baseline model we offer is a 350kW (470hp) Transbrake model. From there you can option up better internals.

Core availability is an issue over here (the Rotary Model has a unique Valve Body and Servo/Piston set) so if your wanting parts then I will need your Valve Body and Intermediate Servo/Piston set for reworking.

Your basically dealing with a C4 that is already 98% rollerised, requires minimal Lubrication modifications and interchanges parts with 90% of all JATCO 3N71B and 4N71B models. We offer tech Sheets for Trade Customers showing our modifications during rebuilding.

Torque Converters
Choice of Hi Stall will greatly depend on Engine Porting/Turbo specs and desired results.
Generally Speaking:
Smallish Turbo and a mild Port= Reworked JATCO 9"
GT35-40 to GT42R with extend Ports- JATCO 7.5"
Larger Turbo and/or Bridge/Peripheral Port- Toyota 7". Highly recomend GAS to stop start line delays during spooling.

Prices in AUS $ (x 0.79 to convert to US$)
2nd Hand JATCO R3A $200.00
350kW Transbrake 3 Speed JATCO R3A $2,200.00
Options
Lift Rating to 540hp- VASCO Plus Billet Input Shaft $300.00
Lift Rating to 600hp- VASCO Plus Billet Input Shaft $300.00, Chrome Moly Nitrided 4 Pinion Forward Planetary Set $300.00, Thick Wall Cast Alloy Pan $220.00

Parts
Transbrake Valve Body Assembly $700.00
Billet Servo Piston $70.00
VASCO Plus Billet Input Shaft $300.00
Chrome Moly Nitrided 4 Pinion Forward Planetary Set $300.00
Thick Wall Cast Alloy Pan $220.00

Torque Converters
JATCO 9" $800.00
GM 8" $1,500.00
JATCO 7.5" $1,200.00
Toyota 7" $1,600.00

Busted7 who built that Jatco for you? How much HP/TQ is it capable of taking? I have one that I was considering rebuilding with parts from Keas

Pretty sure he told me some local hillbilly cross referenced some numbers and was able to build that jatco up from some off the shelf parts.

Interesting.......

would like to hear more about what was changed/modified in the tranny.... lets see how his goes then maybe I'll consider sending mine out to have the same mods done... My Rx2 will be making conservative power so I don't need a crazy race auto & stall

Eric's right a friend gave me the jatco out of a 1967 with 60,000 miles then he moded the valve body with springs and check *****, stuff i dont know crap about.

He runs one in his auto cross car with a 220 c/i supercharger and its held up for years and about 500 h/p in a mg miget. I have the stock converter stalled higher but 38oo stall isnt high enough for the torque i had plus i have 29.5x10.5w slicks with 514 gears. I need to go turbo and 6,000 stall with break and then the trannie probley wont hold up.

If i find the money i was going to contact carabiean trans they have the parts!

Yeah, when I was researching it. I had a local good ol boy transmission shop do some preliminary research for me. He said that he found many ways to make that transmission stout.

I'd think you could find some in the states who could re-stall that converter. The trans brake, I'm not sure about though.

I just wish I could get my hands on one of those transmissions. Charlie, do you know anyone with one laying around ? Let me borrow yours since you won't be running that turd for another decade.

Interesting!

If they can modify the old school auto tranny, why can't the modify the one on the FC\FD?
