6-Point Roll Bar Suggestions

I've been putting off installing a 6-point in the FD for a couple years now. I've always had the mindset that they don't belong in a street car, but I'm really tired of getting told I can't run anymore at the drag strip. So, I going to break down and have one installed. I don't have the skills to make one myself, so I'm looking for other options. I got a quote from a local shop for around $800-1000 to build one. They do great work too, some amazing race cars come out of there. I need to go get a quote from another shop to see if they are comparable. I'm also wondering if there are any kits for the FD? Something you buy, cut the pipe and weld in? Anyone have experience with their quality?

I guess I'm really just looking for others experience with 6-points in their FD. Pictures would be nice too, if you have some.

Zinx i would go with the swing out bars that are removable. The hardware is not that much and it lets you remove the door bars.

Removable swing outs are a must. I don't want to have to put up door bars unless I'm at the track.

$800-1000 is the going rate IMO for a 6 point cage.

We charge $200 CDN per point for cage work.

Zinx that is a good price. My 6-point was 1650. That is including Chris Alston swing outs (the BEST) and a rear X-bar. If I would have gone with cheaper swingouts and no X-bar it would have been ~$1100.

i just had a 6 point custom made for my fd. long story short, the guy will never do another cage in an fd. its very very tight and theres only one route for the bar going across the door. luckily im 5'6 so i can get away with it but the next person that owns my car will probably be removing it. i either reccomend a removable steering wheel or hinging it. i went the removable steering wheel route. ill post pics when i leave work

Maybe I can get a quick answer...are the cusco cages good for nhra/ihra? Was wanting there chromoloy 7 point. But might just stick with a 4 point for now....only other cages I have run in my imports have been autopower bolt-in cages. Just wanting to try a different one

Iwas on the phone with autopower this morning, getting info for my six point before I listed it f/s, and he told me that cusco wasnt. I dont know, maybe he just wanted to sell me his cage instead. I cant see them (cusco) selling many cages if they were not certified/good for nhra. Just my 2 cents.

spinnin3rd did any interior pieces need to be hacked up in order to fit the bars in the front half.. holes in the bins, dash, pillars etc. looks like a clean job.

Kirk Racing is a possible option. Some pics here: http://reganrotaryracing.tripod.com/kirkroll.htm
I thought I read that they have a 6 point but I could be wrong.

Autopower is an option also.

The Jap brand roll bars and cages that I've seen have all been looks oriented.

Other than that, I think you only option is custom. $800-1,000 ain't bad IF it is a good setup that fits well.

I have them too, Chris Alston (chassisworks) are the best swingouts I have seen. The hardware for 2 doors is about $300, the labor goes up as well.

Enzo did my cage a while back.

Custom cage is something I really don't want to fool with. Also I can't stand anyone but me touching my cars...I do all my own work. So on that note, I want a cage that I can just buy that bolts/weld in the FD

im the same way, i also dont let anyone work on my car. the cage was an impulsive deal for me i didnt really think over too well. i would deffinately recommend a bolt in/swing out cage. i cant stress enough how extremely tight it is with the leg bar. mind you i may be the smallest fd owner out there at 5'5. but to each his own.

sorry i dont know why i said interior, i meant my rug
