7 months after and still no write-up on RN, why is that?? I thought this was a very big accomplishment, why hasn't the offical rotary news site followed up on this?? Seems like the only rotarys worth writing about are the ones on speed channel & the ones from the west coast.. This is very disturbing and the owners of RN should give credit where it's due. PR gets the step child treatment in the rotary game

Thanks for the contact info boys looks like they will print a correction in the next coming issue. It was too late for the current issue as it was already to print.

Hey guys sorry about that... we waited for info and then we got caught up in a bunch of other stuff and it got overlooked.... we write of RE cars from all over the world. So no issues there, but whenever you want to write story on any interesting rotary accomplishments please feel free to write it up and submit it to me at:

berny "AT" rotarynews "DOT" com

RN.COM is all done on a volunteer basis, and Dan and I have been extremely busy with personal business and other issues this year. It's all been a labor of RE LOVE!

sorry, maybe I missed this. Anyone know what compression ratio rotors Sporty is using?

Low! Xtreme rotaries take a S4 rotor & machine more out of the faces for them.

What makes you say that Sporty is running low compression rotors from Xtreme rotaries?

So what makes it beneficial to do so much compression of the fluid (air) using a rotodynamic pump, and so little with the positive displacement pump? When you say "Low!" I am guessing somewhere around 7.5:1? And they are running something like 50 psi boost, right?

So that’s a pressure ratio of 3.3:1 as the fluid passes the compressor, then exchanging heat with the intercooler, then pressurizing an additional 7.5:1, making the total compression ratio with respect to atmospheric 25:1 (7.5*3.3=25). Why not just run 12.5:1 compression ratio rotors (if they existed) and a boost pressure of 15psi (PR=2:1). Your air charge would still be 25:1 (12.5*2=25). Or for that matter why not run 25:1 compression ratio rotors with no turbocharger at all. You would no longer build up the total pressure ratio progressively as you wait for the turbo to spool up.

I think I know the answer to these questions, and I think it has to do with adiabatic efficiencies and PV=mRT and the act of INTER-cooling, but I would like to hear other peoples answers.

Also, does anyone know what type of transmission Sporty is using? What engine series?

I would hazard a guess & say more air / fuel in the combustion chamber = a bigger bang = more power. Im no thermodynamic engineer so cant give you all the theory behind it, but I would imagine you would get a heap more fuel in the chamber with low compression rotors than with 25:1 rotors! Like you say, you can still compress this mixture by way of turbocharging. Also, with lower compression, you can run more timing, also allowing more power.

^ this is what he said..

I think the 2step on the flux capacitor was kicking in to early at 88mph, which cause a problem in the CDI box. They were short on a few gigawatts of spark

Get it now?

A bigger alternator would help!

This is true, but I don't think those rotors were in the engine at the time of this achievement. Last time I spoke to Gaby he was going to be after some 2mm seals as the next time the engine is built they will be running these rotors and he wanted to stay with the 2mm slot. This record was done on 3mm 1pc. On average Gaby said they are running 40psi. Hopefully my info is still accurate?? It's been a while since I spoke to Gaby, tough getting ahold of him lately.

Lower comp = less power all other variables being the same.

These people are only glorified mechanics so you cant expect them to know what they are talking about let alone explain it to you

I literally laughed my **** off when someone said it has "more volume and hence will make more power" Does anyone know why the 13B is rated at 654cc? regardless of compression ratio? smart people do, none of them are into drag racing or make products for it

What has drifting offered the rotary....a button for the e-brake? When i want to know the best way to satisfy a man i will seek your wisdom, until then you should stick to what you know.

If i didn't know any better i would think this was Peter (riceracing)
