IMO, The first modification should be a GOOD EMS system. knowing what I know now. It would be either a Motec M4 Pro or a Haltech E6k. Man, you dont know how much I wish I could start over from when I purchased my car. Maybe it wouldnt be in so many pieces right now.

I originally had a pfc, then decided to try haltech so I could take advantage of the tuning features. The haltech is much better, thats what I would have gone with if I had it to do over.

The datalog kit is another option you can add to the pfc that allows you to tune much like the haltech. The haltech already has a datalog feature that allows you to record data while your car is running so you can go back and see where you need to make adjustments. It becomes very usefull when you first tune the car in, or take it to the track to analyze runs.

Ok, let me try to explain here. If you were to get a haltech you would have a blank base map. From there you would either have to figure out how to set up all the parameters for your car, since the haltech can be setup for just about any car. Or, you could ask for someone with a haltech and similar mods to email you a file to upload into the haltech. Even if I sent you one of my maps you could use it in your car, except you would have to lean it down most likely since I have a single turbo and 1200cc injectors. So what you would do is, go into the datalog option, create a new file, drive the car, hit wot "cautiously", then hit enter to end datalogging. Then review your air/fuel numbers, make adjustments to your fuel maps keeping your air/fuel numbers around 825-875 to stay around 11:5:1 ratio or safer.
To upload maps into the haltech, you simple attach a laptop with the haltech program into it, turn the key over, then load the map.

You should go to haltech's website and download their demo version to see what i'm talking about. I could send you a map to load into it that would be for an fd. Its kinda hard to know what i'm talking about without playing with the software.

Well thats hard to say, both will require some knowledge when tuning. There is a large support group for the haltech, its easy to share maps, and get questions answered.

The "Hitman's" web site has great maps for the Haltech E6K that can be downloaded. The Haltech was kind of a bitch to hook up, but what an amazing piece of equipment!

Xsengineering is the only one I know of. It is defenitly easier to have the haltech tuned, since anyone who knows how to tune can do it. You don't need special kits to go with it, or the excel program...just the software that comes with it and a laptop computer.

From what I understand, Hittman got fed up with people buying their Haltechs from somebody else, then coming to him for advise.
He has taken the maps off of his website.
Here are some, if you need them.
