What do you guys think about my Anti-lag idea?

OK so im planning on hooking up my 2-step on my 2nd gen. Ive got a haltech e6k. anyway i was going to have it enabled with the clutch but then i suddenly got an idea today. i dont know if anyone has done this but i want to hook it up to my cigarette lighter. what do you guys think. my lighter has dosent even work, it isnt hooked up anyway. I know it will work, but i was just wondering if i take the coil out if it will still get hot? I wont have it on for long anyway but i just wondered if it will be safe enough cause i dont want to screw it up and burn my car down. or since it is hooked to the haltech will it even get hot? i dont know for sure about any of this but i want to do it cause i can turn it on by pushing it in, and if i dont want anyone to mess with it i can just take it all the way out. anyway anyone ever done this before? what do you guys think?

I don't know if it would work or not, but what happens if someone is sitting in the passenger seat and pushes the cigarette lighter in? I don't think that would be good.

that is why i can take it totally out then no one could push it. that is why i like the idea. and plus id have to be revving it up when they press it anyway. and im pretty sure no one has ever pushed it in while riding with me, and of course id make an anouncment to anyone who happens to ride with me not to touch it.

so if no one has hooked it up to the lighter, then how else do people do it? clutch i know, do some of you just have a switch stuck on the dash or something?

well the way that makes the most sense when using the 2 step as a drag launch assist thinger is to make some thing you can hold on to separately. so the impression i get is its a momentary switch just hanging out of the dash or put into some thing very close to the shifter. at least thats what Jrat does and what im going to do.

oh and you do NOT want to attach it to the clutch because it sounds like a good idea at first until you press in the clutch to down shift give it some gas to match revs and the damn thing just starts popping. and for those situations you cant think of right now.

oooohh wait if you could figure out some way to arm the switch so after you let the clutch out the first time it wont activate it any more until you press some other switch... that would be sweet.... i feel a great idea here.

yeah i thought about the downshifting thing. anyway it could be possable to have the lighter so once you launch it pops out. i fixed it but before it wouldnt even stay in unless you let off of it real gentle. if you set it right, it would hold pretty good while revving/stopped and would spring out as soon as you launch. im going to mess with it and see if i can get it hooked up.

another idea is to hook it up to 2 switches. say one on the clutch and another on the lighter or something. that way you would have to have the clutch depressed AND the lighter pushed in. that would add extra safety while driving normaly. i want it to be somethign automatic. so i dont have to switch it off after launch. (i will be shifting shortly after that) im pretty sure the lighter thing will work i dono for sure though. anyone else have any other ideas?

thats exactly what i want to do. is have it automatic, my friend Jrat says im a lazy *** to want it that way but i think it would be cool. he is going to hook me up with a electronically actuated switch that will get the job done WAY easy but for the rest of you that cant get one of those, i looked around on the internets for awhile and couldnt find one, ill post up a ghetto picture of how to wire one up using a 5VDC breaker and 2 relays. soon to come

if i spelled any thing wrong yes i know im dumb leave me alone

to start the process pull up to the line push the clutch in and then flip the breaker. anti lag is now enabled. floor it and launch, shift as normal the anti lag will not re-enable until you push the clutch in and switch the breaker back on.

so what is happening is that when the clutch is pressed only the 5 volts will be going through the breaker and through the normal relay, which will allow antilag to work.

but when the clutch is released the breaker will trip because of the 12V source. this will now open the standard relay. so when the clutch is pressed again for the shift the breaker will stay closed and thus the antilag will not work.

yes i know its ghetto but it gets the job done with out any specialty switches. and im assuming every one here knows how to wire the relays. the clutch is the signal for the reverse relay and the breaker is the signal for the standard relay.
