smokeless premix????
First person to answer this question properly gets a cookie.
Where do a get, and what brand, etc premix that doesn't smoke at idle, and doesn't cost 30 dollars per ounce?
The care only smokes at idle, doesn't smoke at 2K rpm free revving nothing like it so I'm pretty sure its not a turbo, oil seals etc.
Oh and it doesn't happen all the time, or too the same extent all the time.
I'm only mixing 12oz per full 18 gallon tank, so that shouldn't be excessive.
I drained the tank last time I got down to empty so I'm pretty sure there's no oil in the bottom of tank.
Ive tried, indemptsu, valvoline, and a generic brand, all at the same ratio and they all smoked some at idle.
BTW this smoking at idle is on 2 different motors, different turbo's etc.

I have had the least smoke with Quicksilver premix.
It will still smoke at start up if the car sat for months and the oil sinks to the fuel pump well, but other than that it is good at 50:1 ratio even.

thanks I'll look for that.
I have a solution to the smoking at startup if its just a mixing issue.
Wire a switch into the fuel pump so you can turn it on for a couple of minutes without the car running, the fuel return system will mix the fuel up.

MMO will smoke, but only if you mix it 100:1 like you have no OMP like I do.
Protek-R does NOT smoke or fowl plugs, and it smells good too. I've run it as fat as 50:1 and had no smoke issues. The only time I had premix related issues was when I was trying to burn off some Repsol synthetic premix oil that I had lying around. I dumped a couple of ounces of that in with my normal premix, which was a bad Idea. My exhaust was painfully smelly and it smoked some. Protek by it's self is the best choice IMO.

I flick it back and forth a lot if the car has been sitting a while :P

used this stuff: http://www.onoffroad.com/Merchant2/m...CLE-LUBRICANTS
at 1oz per gallon, this last fillup. very low smoke at startup, no smoke after fully warmed.
Its not TCW3, but with some searching I have relised that TCW3 was created to lessen the environmental impact of boats that exhaust into the water, and it has nothing to do with water cooling or not.

lucas performance synthetic 2 cycle oil used in oil injection systems, its smokeless and ashless, very good product and pretty cheap from pepboys etc. Can be premixed to 100:1, leaves no gunk, does not fowl plugs, burns clean and has a fuel stabilizer. Look into it, It can be purchased from lucas in a larger amount. As a backup to mop injection add one 4-oz bottle per full 12 gallon tank, for no mop or straight premix run a ratio of 100:1, so 1.28 oz of oil per gallon or 4 oz of oil per 3.125 gallons of gas.

it was lucas oil not an additive that had a fuel stablizer in it and it is some great stuff, use all lucas products in my car and havent found anything better, slo im sorry you had a problem but if you used some kind of "thining" additive and had a small area about to leak, i could see a leak starting but dont knock lucas, its some good stuff.

it was lucas oil additive, the particular car I used it on had some valve noise despite only having 50K miles. It did nothing to clear up the valve noise although the bottle said it should.
A can of lifter quiet in the next oil change cleared the valve noise right up, and the oil leak never came back in the next 70K miles that I owned the car. It was no small leak either.
I will never trust or use lucas products again.

i run walmart brand, works great.
I am thinking about switching to mixing it 50/50 with MMO.
If anyone has access, check out SAE paper #730047 for some interesting info on lubrication of our engines. It gives an 'ideal' formulation, but I dunno how you would know what company's formula is closest....
